Default Car studdering...wierd. help please

The other day I was driving around 35 mph. Someone was going about 40-45 and rear ended me. The hit didnt mess up my bumper or did anything visible really. But the engine started to studder. And today in the morning that I jumped in the car it idles pretty rough and studders like a mofo when i accelerate. I would have to accelerate really slow to not notice it. What could it be?

did u check the charcole canister in the rear maybe a vacuum line came out or it got a crack this can cause the engine to take in un-metered air causing it to stall. not 100% shure about it but take a look. you never know.

It will be on the passenger side. And yes...if the hoses get knocked loose you may have an intermittent vac leak depending on the state of various solenoids (purge, pressure control, etc.)

It seems like its been off for a while though...

The wire is resting on top of that hose, but if i let if fall it drops about 7 inches down.

yea that's deff been like that for a while. just look up and around it maybe ull notice something else. like what Haelan said before one of the hoses could have been knocked loose, or solenoid damaged. try and find the the rest of that harness btw. with the canister disconnected you run a high risk of setting your a** on fire.

I know the pressure control is just above the charcoal canister toward the front. There are a few other devices in that area; it's a bit of a maze.

Ok I checked it out and nothing was disconnected besides the plug. Which was somewhat broken off ... It connedts to a hose connection. I glued it back on. I checked the Y pipe and its fine also.

Seems to me that it has somethign to do with the pressure.... It does it if I press the accelerator down more than normally.. The boost kinds stays at the 0 on the stock gauge then jumps up a little.. So i'm thinking boost leak or something with the fuel pressure.

Im going to post a video later and hopefully u guys can help me out.

i read this http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h62.pdf, and I might have abad gas cap thats causing this, or pretty much any component this talks about...

Allright I scanned the codes and got...

P0340 Camshaft Possition Sensor A Bank 1 Circuit Malfunction

and

P0447 Evap Emmissions Control System Vent Circuit Open

I got that one 2 times. i dont knwo why. On the second one, the reader had a small "pd" logo on it.

That connector is the one that was broken!

Camshaft Position Sensors are fairly cheap especially for a used one. Try replacing it and see if it clears up most of your troubles. If you're handy with a multimeter you can check the resistance on the sensor itself and verify the wiring to the ECU.

P0447 does indeed you have a problem somewhere in your evap system. It's complex and goes from the intake manifold to the maze of junk back by the charcoal canister. I don't have my DTC manual at work or I'd post what I could about the code.

"pd" might be short for "Pending" code. It hasn't triggered since the first P0447 is already registered.

I checked the valve that is on top of the canister, the one with a black hose fittign on top, and electrical connector, and 2 fittings on the bottom. Is that supposed to be a chek valve? i blow air and it goes through, and then I suck air and it sorta closes, but still lets some air through. I took if off and cleaned it. I blew it out with the air compressor. Reinstalled it, cleared the codes, and turned on the car. The codes came back after abnout 10 seconds.

It DID run a little better though.

Since it started after the hit on my bumper, do you guys think the charcole might have come lose and clogged something?
I remember reading that it could happen..

Another thread that may help you: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...ighlight=P0447

You may be able to PM some of those folks and see what their issue ended up being.

Allright. I took it to autozone to get the codes and it had a bunch of misfires. I decided to get the spark plugs. I installed them and its pretty much the same.

I have noticed that in the mornings it misfires like crazy. It shakes at idle as well. After the cars been running and its warm, it works ALOT better.

I also noticed that if i dont boost it it works ok. And as soon as I go past "0" on the gauge it starts to act up. Any ideas??

Ok, After adding the seafoam It fixed nothing. Although, i did see alot of smoke come out the exhaust manifold. Can it be possible that a big leak in the exhaust manifold is causing the turbo to not spool propperly, and making my car stutter alot?
