Default Perrin crank pulley vs. GFB 2 pcs pulleys

If you guys have a choice, which kit would you choose and why?

- Perrin crank pulley retains stock belts and is not underdriven.

- GFB 2 pcs pulley replaces both crank and alternator pulleys with lighter ones, but crank pulley is underdriven .

Thanks in advance,

The alt pully should be overdriven (larger) than stock if your replacing the crank pully with the smaller one.

You slow down power steering, and... the AC... in stop and go traffic... might not be so good.

I personally wouldnt recommend either. The perrin is just less rotational mass, which is great and all- until you consider the fact that a harmonic balancer is a very important part!!!

I'd get the fluid filled balancer before the Perrin. GT spec also carries one for much less coin, that retains stock size as well. Subaru balances their motor pretty well, but.. again.. up to you.

for those with GFB pulleys, do you know if belts are readily available from autozone?

well despite popular belief the wrx does not have harmonic balancer, so the stock pulley is pretty much just a heavy piece of cast. I switched mine out with the perrin and put on new bolts and over 20,000 miles later still no problems what so ever. Everything has been good I would stick with the perrin underdriven is too much of a risk to take although don't quote me on that. Do some research on here about underdriven, the only thing to worry about is using a lightweight pulley with a lightweight flywheel, thats when people have had problems.

I've had the GFB on my car for 4 years with no issues. Yes, the AC does not blow as cold due to the fact that it does not get an overdrive pully with this kit. Belts are also not hard to get if you know what you need.

The Gates Rubber Co.
050330 18 mm x 850 mm
040335 14 mm x 860 mm

I may be selling my car and have removed these. If you want my pully set (no belts) I will let them go for $50 plus shipping. Send me a PM if you want them.

^I'm with him.... Although I have the Perrin crank pulley and I have the ACT streetlight flywheel. I have no problems and it revs so nicely...
