that was kind of a giveaway because aside from a used S2000, which seems like an move for MN, there is nothing interesting at honda dealerships that wasn't a trade in

jhmr wasn't the only one!

I was pretty upset too. Then Nasioc went down and i almost cried, for reals. I spent the rest of the night till like 3am-4am watching youtube videos of xluben's ride and some other stage 2 WRX/STi's. I am very happy you decided to build it. It was a very emotional Saturday night early Sunday morning man.

If you have E85 locally, I think Stage 2 + E85 is pretty much perfect for daily driving. If that's not enough for you, then I'd sit down and think long and hard about your goals. Depending on what they are, it may make sense to go rotated right away.

That's the plan. Actually, the gold wheels are a bit too flashy for me. I'm thinking about buying something that looks more conventional. Likely a darker silver/grey or gunmetal. Almost impossible to find something as light as the BBS wheels though (without spending a fortune). And, no, I don't really want RPF1's...

No, I didn't go to the dealer. I was just trying to set it up to take a photo of my wife's 07 Civic, lol. There's no way I'd buy a Honda to mod it. I would consider one as a commuter car though. We really like the Civic my wife has, although the newer ones don't have great reviews.

Haha. I didn't realize the heartbreak I would cause! I also didn't know NASIOC went down. That was good timing!

I'm trying to keep my car running dependably for as long as possible.

E85 sounds nice, but I like to take road trips with my car so I think this would be out of the question. Another thing I have to worry about is that stupid Oregon and California (especially california) have strict emissions checks. So here is my plan for the next couple of years (at least until I can afford to get a docile daily drive and keep the WRX strictly as a weekend toy):

-I'm having the SPT Catback installed tomorrow (for sound)
-Cobb DP w/ Open Source Stage 2 Tune (sometime this year)
-Accessport + Learning to install OEM Downpipe on my own (so I can tune back to stock for smog checks, which won't be an issue for at least another 5 years, or if I ever need warranty work done...).

"Theoretically" speaking, this should keep me out of trouble right? Don't mean to thread jack, just seems like you guys know a ton of good info. Especially since you guys have already gone through a lot of this.

Yeah, that sounds pretty safe/reasonable.

I feel you on the rims though, they look nice, but I'm also more of a fan of the darker rims. Even then, you have a good reason to use the lighter BBS wheels. I would like to keep my car as OEM looking as possible, which is what I really like about your build.

RPF1's are nice, but everyone and their mom has them, so it kind of makes them just "meh" to me.

I also want something wider. 7.5" wide just isn't cutting it for me. Extra width makes it even harder to find something reasonably light. RPF1's just don't look good to me. I'm looking to get a clean looking 17x9" wheel, hopefully around 18lbs, and doesn't break the bank. I have a few in mind, but haven't decided anything yet.

I see a lot of people with wide wheels, does this mean you have to get a stiffer suspension? Otherwise I would think that your wheels would be rubbing up against the car if you hit a bump or something..

hahaha, my old civic had a stiff suspension, and my god, it felt like my butt was dragging up against the asphalt the whole time, it wasn't very comfortable...

17x9" with the proper offset would probably fit just fine with stock suspension. I am lowered on coilovers, so I already have my fenders rolled.

I've decided that I am going to switch up my wheel setup. First step is selling some stuff...

Yeah man! I'm putting my money on 18's for summer to make room for a brake upgrade. BUT if you do this, why wouldn't you just keep the BBS wheels as your winter setup? hmmmm.

I think I'm planning on sticking with 17's, but I'll be trying to get something with plenty of brake clearance, just in case.

I'd like to keep the BBS wheels for winter, but I'm not seeing much interest in the steelies. Wrong time of year, I suppose.

Does anyone know where to get Federal 595 RS-R tires?
