Default Holy crap

So I've lurked awhile and I'm finally posting.

I bought my 2004 impreza obs in February of this year. PO had already put uel header, tsudo catless 2.5" stainless steel exhaust with large muffler, typical badly adjusted ebay coilovers, wrx hood, and sti bumper ends.

It was a great deal and had only 152k miles on it very little rust I could see, other than the rear quarters.

Then I found an oil leak. I thought it was the pan gasket, rear main, or oil separator cover. My wife kept insisting that I put it off so she can have a break from the kids. That ended up being not a good idea...the pan had rusted and when I parked at work I lost more oil than I knew. On the way home she died, but started back up. Only to die again and not start back up just 30 yards from home.

Cylinder 1 and 2 had spun rod bearings!

Get that taken care of new pistons, oem rods, remanufactured crank, etc...but figured the timing belt was replaced recently so that service could wait...

Nope...the the damn thing jumped, took out the exhaust valves, spark plug, and combustion chamber for cylinder 1... And it gets better.

Hypereutectic pistons can not take much...as the piston exploded. Connecting rod bent, then snapped, and finally wedged into the case. The piston debris made it to the other side of the engine. The best part, the nice crack in the cylinder wall.

I hear ya on that, if it's something major i need to check/work on i still do but when it's something not detrimental like dress up or exhaust then it's all
