Batlground Porsche 914 Build
Here at Batlground Motorsports, we have taken on a huge project. It started life as a Porsche 914, but when it rolled into our shop it was obvious that the vehicle had seen better days. The luck of the little 914 is changing. The owner wants a track ready ej20 swapped car when finished. Every inch of the 914 is getting overhauled, starting with removing rust from the chassis.
We will update this thread as we get more work completed on this project. Sorry, but I could not find a true "before" pic. Parts of the factory floor were cut out so that the rust could be completely removed. The floor then got coated with POR-15, and then welded back up. Before Rust Cleaned |

We started cutting vents in the front end for cooling the radiator. Also we are mocking up how we will be mounting the fuel cell and radiator. We cut out a section across the front bay section and added a strut bar to add stiffness to the chassis that lacks much needed structural support. Fuel cell and radiator mounts will be next.

So....air cooled ej20 turbo? Usually people convert these to liquid cooled when they do this swap. I hope the temps are able to stay down and am interested to see the results.
edit: The second time I read your comment I concluded you probably meant liquid cooled. Correct me if I'm wrong. My dream is to someday convert a 914 to ee20 power. Maybe I'll give you guys a call in a few years when I can get the money together. |

^ i was scratching my head too, but im guess he meant convert from air cooled not to air cooled as he goes on to talk about mounting a rad. and there is a templet where a rad. would go.

Yes this one will have a radiator mounted up front and so far in the plans the intercooler will be a standard top mount location.

Yes there will be ducting to the top mount. There is still ducting to be done for the front mounted radiator and a/c condenser. Also a hole has to be cut in the hood to for the air to go out of the radiator. Cosmetic stuff is later. You read correct, this car is getting a full heat and A/C system. Here are the pictures of the radiator and fuel cell mounts that we made. They are both rubber mounted with isolators from MSC. We are trying to use as much aluminum as possible to keep the weight down.

Roll cage has been started. Here are pictures of the main hoop with halo bar. We went with the halo bar option so that the oem targa top can be installed easily. The cage is being built to NASA as well as SCCA specifications. I will post more pictures as we get more done.

Bump. Any updates?? I'm right behind you, as in a couple of years. I'm currently in the "educate myself" phase and am perusing this site for ideas. I too want A/C so will watch with interest. I'm flirting with the 6 but it appears the EJ20 T will provide the same power with less weight and less space. What route are you taking on the engine coolant lines? Under, through the cabin, longs or exterior, behind the rocker panels? Are you adapting to the 901 tranny or using the Suby tranny?

I'm in the process of doing a build still not sure if doing a Type 4 build up to a 2.5 have been just working on body and haven't even had a look at the engine was a $1500 garage find with almost no rust. Will do a Suby swap if the engine is toast. There is a lot of info at 914World.com and a few guys are building swap kits for Suby conversions. This is by far my favorite build over there! http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.p...topic=84842&hl= http://www.914world.com/bbs2/index.p...topic=84842&hl |
