Rally Stuff Dear Neon Driver... USRC P-2WD Champions?

Hey kids,

It was down to a surprise ending, but we are the 2007 United States Rally Championship - Production 2WD winners! - Yes, in our silly little Dodge Neon.

I heard that NASA is looking to change a rule in 2008 that will allow Imprezas converted to 2WD a chance to run in 2WD classes. So consider starting with a 2.2L FWD and slowly working your way up to a open class monster?? If you keep your scooby as a daily driver, used G2 rally cars can be had for $5000. Get out there and RALLY!

I want to thank our earliest supporters and friends from NESIC - without you guys we wouldn't be up on the podium, AGAIN!

For your "I didn't really want to work today..." pleasure - I have tons of videos from the Laughlin International Rally up on the site:

High-Res WMV video available at: http://rallynotes.com
Pictures available at: http://planetkris.com/gallery/motorsports

Enjoy & See you on the stages!

Just watched the first video. I love hearing her call out the notes.....the urgency in how she says it speaks volumes.

Not sure I could do that with my wife....I think we'd end up killing each other.

Thanks guys -

We have plans laid out for a group 2 car...
Group 2 has a max displacement of 2.4L
That just happens to be the displacement of a Chrysler motor that just happens to drop into our chassis. It would be in a brand new shell.
We'll see what happens in the next 6 months tho...

We have no plans to upgrade Ze'Neon - a full tear-down-rebuild is in process and we'll keep her for rally rentals as a Production car. You can't say no to a car that has run 12 rallies and won 2 championships.

What's funny is when we are driving around town I am the typical MAN and she is the typical WOMAN. "You're too close... Slow down! You missed the exit..."
When we're on stage it's all business: "Go faster! Flat out here! That jump was fun! We can totally beat them."
She is sometimes more competitive then I am. I found this out at one of our first dates at a hockey game. Nothing like a 5.4" Italian girl yelling for a fight...
wearing a Rangers jersey...
at a Rangers / Bruins game...
in Boston...
and we have ride the T back to our car...
that is parked at BU...

Good job on the win!!!!

Are those my old wheels on your car?
Oh....memories of changing head gaskets and renting the free Autozone crank pully puller.

Yeah, what key'd me in was the first video, at the very beginning of the stage she reads off that there is a dip. Then when she realizes you haven't slowed at all for the dip....she says it again in a tone that I've heard from my wife. The tone basically says "you obviously didn't hear me the first time"
My favorite is when she was reading stuff as you were going over the jumps. You can actually here in her voice when the car is unwieghted, her voice crescendos with the cars altitude. I love it. Understand that you are pretty lucky to have a wife that shares your passion.
I almost had my wife into track events. She was set to do here first one. I take her for a lap around the track to orient her. It was fast, but not at 100%, go into a hairpin and the brakes fail. We survive the ordeal without any damage and limp into the pits. She opted to not try driving on her own...and hasn't shown any interest since.
