Spend $10 and buy the OEM '15 HU brakets and the Sosche dash kit is easy as well.

The brackets that come with the Sosche dash kit are fine, they fit great. The whole dash-kit is very nice, and is easy to install. The issue is the kit coupled with my specific HU, not the kit itself, nor the HU itself. My HU is the same size as the kit; my HU is 6.95', an the dash-kit is 7", and is kind of rounded off at the edges. Couple that with the way the HU opens (down and out), and you get clearance issues if things aren't exactly perfect. I don't know how the Pioneer HU's everyone is getting open, so they may not have any issues.

The HU can move forward and backwards depending on how you connect the brackets; too far forward, and it clears the dash-kit, but looks like it popping out of the dash; too far backwards and dash-kit won't fit at all around the HU. My goal was to get the HU to sit as flush as possible with the dash, while still being about to open it up. That ended up being a combination of adjusting the brackets, and setting the screen tilt.

Hey,

I used the brackets you referenced and lined up the holes the same way lined them up in your pics. I am having trouble putting the face back on the unit, did you have issues with that as well? Its opens and closes ok, but it feels like there is too much resistance when pushing the bottom of the face in.

I've never had the need to remove the face plate, but I gave it a go this morning and it seemed to detach and go back on fine. I do occasionally get incomplete movement of the face plate when I put in a CD or SD Card, but it works after pressing one of the open or close buttons again. Regardless, it doesn't appear that the HU faceplate comes into contact with the trim piece.

You may want to check if you have the trim piece fully seated on to the dash? Also you could experiment with using some washers to put between the '15 OEM brackets and the dash support structure.

Anyone with a 2018 swap out their headunit yet?

The upper screen on mine lost a lot of the settings once the HU swap was done. The settings menu no longer has options to allow you to customize what information displays on each screen, and the maintenance option also disappeared.

All of the data is still there and all the different displays still work, but they cannot be adjusted anymore.

If anyone's curious as to what I'm referring to, I suppose I could make a video of it this week.

I've used these guys both for my car and my girlfriend's car. I have no complaints! Everything went smoothly and I'm happy with the install: http://www.autoharnesshouse.com/49021b.html

Do you have the eyesight system? I'm surprised you lost the maintenance menu because I don't see any reason why this would communicate with the headunit.

No, I don't. I'll grab a video tonight of the menu options I have left and post it.

Bro Tip:

If you encounter engine noise through your speakers (a ground-loop), ground-out the OEM ground wire that connected to the back of the OEM HU (the black w/ blue-stripe wire).

I had some pretty noticeable engine noise coming through my speakers with my Kenwood HU w/ Alpine PP. I grounded out that wire, and the noise went away.

I thought I read it somewhere in this thread, thought I didn't seem to find a solution to it. But has anyone who owns a 17 WRX/STI, had issues with the front speakers not working after installing a aftermarket headunit? I used the Metra 70-1761 for the audio, and could not get sound to the front speakers, though the rears worked fine. I ended up plugging my stock stereo back in, which works perfectly fine, and possibly having a stereo shop install it. The headunit I was attempting to install was a Pioneer AVIC 8200.

Any advice on what I could have done differently?

Thanks guys!

You need to reconnect your car's telematics module. See this post.

Oh, that simple? It resembles the shape of a hard drive. I didn't even realize what that was. I now remember some harnesses plugging into that. Will give that a shot!

Thank you!

Anyone with a 2016/17 with Nav that used a harness from www.autoharnesshouse.com can you confirm it came with the 5 pin conector for the back up cam? I know SVXdc does make one but getting an answer back from him is like an x-girlfriend that doesn't want to talk to you.

I have a non-nav and just received mine from AHH (within a week of order). Their harness includes the resistor, which allows the stock camera to work. Just email them about your nav HU, they answer quickly.

You might recall that we did have Hurricane Irma blow through here this past Monday and Tuesday. I've been a bit busy preparing beforehand and cleaning up downed trees afterwards.

Your installation is more complicated than most because your car has the new-style Subaru harman/kardon system and you're adding the OEM Audio+ system. I've reached out to OEM+ to confirm how their system will physically connect to your car's wiring. I suspect that you won't need anything from me to connect to the factory harnesses that were plugged into your h/k amp.

I didn't know if you were in the path. I did reply right back with what harness's I needed and all the shipping info. They connect just the same as factory plugs and don't touch the 28 pin one. They also bypassed the HK amp already. that's the plugs one each into the factory harness and one each to the factory radio.

Default screen goes black

So every time I press the brake (driving or parked) the screen goes black and then the reverse camera back up bars come up the screen then I depress the brake and then it goes back to playing music and is perfectly fine till I touch the brake again. The reverse camera doesn't work when the car is put in reverse either. I thought I installed the 6v to 12v convert correctly but not I'm guessing I ****ed it up does anyone have the wiring instructions for the 6v to 12v converter and I have the one connection (RCA cable female) CAM input that doesn't have a male end to connect it to. I am guess that's why the reverse camera isn't working. Please help me I am so lost.
