Default 2018 WRX Base C-Light

Been dying to tear apart my headlights and install the notorious LED C-light mod on my WRX. I've read up on all the installation guides and watched countless videos on YT. I am pretty set on DD over Morimoto, although each have their fair share of users reporting technical issues.

Anyway, I just got off the phone with someone over at Diode Dynamics. He told me that the C-light would not fit my 2018 wrx c-light housing.

Is this true?? I recall reading somewhere on NASIOC that the C-light on the 2018's do appear to be sharper towards the ends, but even on Subispeed.com they have the DD C-light listed as
"Only fits 2018+ models with standard halogen headlights"

Default 2018 WRX Base C-Light

Im fairly sure the base/premium 2018 headlights are the same exact halogen lights as 2015-2017 base/premium. I think the led on the limited and sti are different only on the inside really as well kind of like the 2015-2017 lights. And i bet even those new led lights would probably swap into 2015-2018 base/premium if somebody took the time to figure out the wiring, obviously there would probably be no way to add the steering response but i bet you could use those led lights for high/low beam and turn signal if you wanted...

That's exactly what I thought too!! On the phone with DD I told the guy,

"I have the base model 2018 wrx. All halogen bulbs."

DD guy: "Yeah, wont fit."

This guy on Reddit used the Morimoto C lights without issue on his 2018. Cant imagine that there would be issue with the DD lights either...

DD c light is much better, the morimoto you could barely see the amber switchback. And morimoto only has one brightness. I got the morimoto initially then swapped to the diodes and I wish I never bought the morimotos
