I'm running +4mm, but I've had every iteration "except H6" for the Subie motor and I still love the the destroked 2.34 with a +4mm hi-comp the best "for my application and desire"

I put together a +2mm build this summer and am just waiting on a few things to finish the long block. Goals are 600+ at the wheels, using Manley Turbo Tuff +2mm rods and Manley Turbo Tuff stroker pistons on a stock nitrided crank and an Outfront closed deck V3 set of case halves... King bearings..

The top end consists of stage 2 ported heads, Manley Inconel and SS valves, and GSC stage 1 cams.

Ill let you know where I end up in the next couple of months as the car is in the bodywork phase as I type this.

Do you mean in the last year or perhaps in the last week?

I figured as much. I was sort of waiting for the other sets to be available...

I do have to confess. The last +2 motor we built was last week. This week is an FA and a really nice closed deck stroker EJ that with some luck you'll be able to read about in the near future.

IMO at end of day this motor does nothing a 2.5l can't and while there is a lot of "theory" on why this motor should have less wear and larger power band yet neither can really be proved since there's never been any testing let a alone independent 3/party.

I have done taken the pepsi challenge here ............

same everything except the head gaskets

2.34 =silky smooth linear wide powerband

2.5 = mountain of midrange

for my usage , street car that is heavily biased towards trackdays ,the 2.34 is better , it does not blow the tires off the car at 3-3500 like the 2.5 and pulls harder longer . that was with the 30r framed fp hta76

the "new , back with a vengeance" destroker will have a larger bore so it will be closer in displacement to the 2.5 and a rotated 35r framed fp hta86 with the aps dr725 fmic I recently installed to replace the punchy but overworked pw tmic

I like the 2.5 that's in there now only because it can be driven around at 1200 rpm , I hate the way it falls off up top and feels like it "struggling" or "not happy" up there in direct contrast to the 2.34 that feels like a sportbike or s2000 or better yet a first year ford/Yamaha taurus sho

imo , if you have not driven both then you really can't base an opinion off of "the numbers"

as stated above , I have done just that and with EVERYTHING the same except shortblock and head gasket thickness

the destroker is not for everyone for certain but they sure to feel good , think of it as a ej207 on steroids rather than a neutered 2.5
