Another update to the $250 Protuninglab catback exhaust!

Today I brought my car to the exhaust shop. They put a VERY mild bend on the first section of pipe and we just readjusted the rest. The nice fellows didn't even charge me.

Everything lines up alright now. There is a minor leak right before the y-pipe, but you can't hear it so I'm just gonna leave it lmao.

It actually sounds pretty dang good. There's some slight drone at 80 MPH, but absolutely nothing unbearable.

Sound clip (featuring my pink mudflaps):

My final verdict: Honestly it's worth the $250, especially if you just HAVE to have a 3" catback. It's more than quiet enough for a daily driver, so I might just keep it like this and see how long it takes to rust lol. The install was sorta a hassel but thats probably because I did it on a set of ramps because I don't give a freakin heck.

I'll have another update in a little over the week

If anyone has questions, please ask nicely!

Oh and for reference, I have a catted 3" j-pipe on the car already.

Thanks for posting this

Based on my experience with aftermarket exhausts last 5 years.. this thing does not look bad overall: materials are on par what Borla and others are using (Borla cat back retails for 900-1100 for 2015+ WRX). Exhaust tips are kinda cheap, but for 250- you do not expect the same tips as on a 500 nameless axlebacks. Fitment kinda sucks.. all aftermarket exhausts that i had had minor issues (not 100% perfect same as stock) but this one required work. My assessment is this would cost between 100 if you are lucky and 250 if unlucky to get it properly fitted by the muffler person (some bending/welding/ probably new longer guskets). Overall even it costs 500 in total including professional fittment - not a bad deal at all.

Not at all! But like I said, the work done was so minimal the shop didn't even charge me. So $250 all said and done!

Honestly I'm really surprised how clean it sounds with a J-Pipe and no resonator. I can't stand the rasp these cars have on most aftermarket exhausts.

Any videos of drive-by's or in car drone?

Doesn't sound bad at all just revving it... Need some under boost drive-by sound clips. I would probably add a resonator but that's just me.

Seems like a great deal for a catback (it's just metal..) minus the minor fitment issues. For $250 it's a steal

I was surprised too! I'll charge up my gopro and see if I can't get a friend to help out this weekend.
