Try Formula One on Westheimer. They did my tint but they'll do just about any shade if you ask them. If you go ask for Kerry and tell him you know Steve with the Camry that used to work at Dent Wizard.

So spill it, where'd you get it done, or did you DIY? I've asked this tinting question before, without much luck.

What's legal in Texas? I read somewhere that it was 35 all around but then someone told me that you can have darker on the back windows. If this is true and i were to just put the darkest legal for the back windows all the way around would i be pulled over really quickly? Thanks

35 front, 20 on the rest
Thats what I have. But I'm really thinking about redoing it to 20 all around. I don't think I can have limo tint, that stuff is way too dark for me.

Yo HOKOS, I'm gonna pm you some places to get it done. Tint businesses are bound by law not to do this, but some will anyway, but don't expect a receipt or warranty. I'm not going to mention the names publically.

I'm sure that HOKOS knows that it is illegal. That's not the point here. However, if you are concerned about the law, don't do it. I know many people with limo tint all around, and many people without front plates. Often cops will ignore you, but both of those things are under your complete control to minimize getting pulled over or at least minimize the size of you traffic ticket. Dark tint makes cops nervous at night. They may very well approach your car with there gun drawn. Be sure if you get this tint and you are pulled over, let all of your windows down immediately to make the cop comfortable. Cops have also been known to make you tear off the tint on the spot. Though I believe you legally have the right to refuse.

Is 20% all the way around too dark? Is it gonna be really noticeable that its not legal? or should i just do 35 all the way around? I don't want to draw attention at all and i think Wrblue is gonna do enough of that for me. Thanks

I have 35 on the sides and 20 on the rear glass. 20 is not nearly as dark as 5% (limo). I think 20 is drivaeable, but a little dark for my driving taste.

Yea, I know 5 is too much

I have had grade 5 on every car, I was pulled over in my truck in Flatonia.. He told me it was to dark with his tester, I then asked him to do it again the reading was different, then I asked him when was the last time he calibrated his machine.. He let me go

To my understanding as written under DOT.. Personal cars are the same as Limo's. Therefore you have the right to tint the back window and the two back pass the same grade 5.

The front sides must be 20 and the tint on the front window can not be placed past the DOT line ( IF you look on your windshield you will notice a DOT line on the right or left side of your car)

I don't drink if I do one here and there.. But IMO my car is private property and I have blinds in my house, I choose to have blinds in my car.. You have to roll down the window to talk with the officer anyway, I would never keep the window up having him try and look in and have a gun pointed at me..

I never got pulled over in my BMW black and Black blend, Having the Rally Blue the tint will stick out maybe to much.. But 20 is to light ...

Plus I can never get a seat belt ticket, a tint ticket will never make your insurance go up.. they give you a fix it ticket normally

20 all around is driveable. I'm not sure, but I think my place misheard me, and thought I wanted 5 on the back window. That thing is way too dark for me. Its hard to tell what car is behind me, I only see dim lights.
I also have a 20% windshield banner.

That's why I told him to ask for Kerry. He's a friend of mine and his brother owns the shop. He usually gives everyone I send over there a discount.

As for the tint coming off, everyone I now that has had it done there loves it, no problems at all. However if anything does happen to the tint, peeling, fading, bubbles, etc, it's under a lifetime warranty so they'll fix it for free

35% for all (4) side windows is the law (1988 and newer models). Many tint places will be hesitant to tint darker than this since they are supposed to put a sticker stating that the tint is legal on the window (and it has their name on it).

The rear window can be as dark as you want if you have side view mirrows (as we all do).

20% for the front side windows (the two directly to driver's right and left) is the criterion for the state inspection.

35% on the front two and 20% on the rear two and rear window looks good and works well on the cars I've seen.
