Default How to paint your aftermarket rims?

i'm planning to buy black rims.....not because i want them black but the style i want was hard to find and the vendor only carries them in black. The black looks flat black, no gloss and i want to paint them white. I searched and read about all the things u need to do. So i know the steps. But one thing i would like to skip is sanding...

Since the rims are flat black is sanding still needed? or can i just primer it and go on from there?

Also how durable is the paint? ie for winter and car washes?

i'd imagine if they are black... and only painted black... you will still need to to sand them down. its gonna be a pain because going from black to white has issues anyways (moreso than any color to black) but you are going to want to sand the clearcoat off at least because the paint will flake off sooner if you dont. if you wanna do it right and only have to do it once... take a lot of time to prep the wheels, sanding, cleaning, primering, painting and so forth. goodluck.

you could always go to a local body shop and see if they can do it for you or send them out to someplace who can, save yourself the aggrevation of not knowing exactly what to do.
