Just put mine on last night and am getting ready to trim the bumper up. I must say that for the price, this has to be the best FMIC on the market. The kit is nearly complete, and for another $50-100 you have everything you need. I chose to pick up an XS Engineering CAI too which works with this FMIC setup

Fit is great, and the quality is quite good too. I have to say I am a little disappointed with the directions on their website and the crappy pictures, but most things were pretty self explanitory. I have found the need though to go out a get washers and other things that they did not mention needing in their instructions. Wish I had done a full write up during the whole process.

Anyone have any suggestions for the bumper cutting? I have been looking, but there are freaking 100 pages in this thread!

Post some pics...I would love to get a good cheap FMIC for a tune

I was wondering...is there a special paint I would have to put on the FMIC to make it black? Just like stealth somewhat.

Here is what I did... First, take dremel or grinder and cut all (i left the black that you see if you look striaght from the front, just cup up to it...) then put on bumper and check fitment.. you will get an idea for how much to cuz.

then I took maskin take and stretched it from corner to corner of the bumper opening and stuck it, so i had a straight line to cut to.. then just dremel/grind to the tape.. check bumper..

Repeat until it fits good..

Im almost done cutting...ive been taking my time with it...its not as good as id like but compared to the hack jobs ive seen on some cars, im please with it so far

def gonna have to do some touch ups from me being sloppy with the dremel and just kissing the bumper a couple times

What discs are you guys using? Just the regular cutting discs? I have some heavy duties as well, but they seem too thick to use.

Also, are you cutting at a high speed or a low speed? I am still just cutting out the black crap, but lost the little screw on the end of my dremel. It decided it had enough of the melting black plastic...grrrr

The car is up and running though and running well. Contrary to what I have read in this thread, I was unable to get the XS Engineering CAI installed without interfering with the IC piping. If anyone wants it, let me know as I am probably gonna ditch it. I plan on using all day tomorrow to cut the bumper and just do it as smoothly as possible. Thanks for all the imput

ya...XS Engineering CAI....dont get it.....bad turbulence issues

unless you are creative like daRealGMan (sorry dude, too lazy to search your name and do a flow straightener to fix it.

Otherwise, just do a blow through and a short ram intake with no MAF bracket on it. Then you can also run a vent to apmosphere BOV too

So any recommendations on bit selection? I am using the standard cutting discs but was wondering what people are using to finish their cuts. They are straight, I just want to clean them up a little bit I just bought a new dremel cause the old one is kinda fubar'd. I have almost all of the black plastic out, I am just a little curious what to do next...

I know most people cut the plastic under the licence plate out, as it obviously inhibits the flow to the top of the intercooler. However, I am somewhat skeptical about cutting it due to it being very visible on the front of the car. Is there an easy way to cut it out?

Well folks, I got 'er done. Needless to say, I am quite happy with my new FMIC. Anyone thinking of getting this kit, I would recommend it highly. Although it is quite an undertaking, it can be done in a day or two with some patience and a light hand.

Havent brought it above 3k rpms yet, but it feels a little choppy. It may be the intake, or that the ECU is learning to deal with the airflow changes. Then again, it could be a boost leak I suppose. Thanks everyone for your help through the process.

Yeah, car goes to the body shop tomorrow to get some dings taken care of. Then the turbo/injectors go on the week after, and the custom tune is the week after that. This thing should wake up quite a bit after the dyno time
