You know you drive a slow car when...
You have to go more than a 1/4 mile to hit 60 mph.
1973 Volkswagon Super Beetle Convertible 0-60mph - 23.8 1/4 mile - 22.5

And this was a fun car in it's day.
The mid 70s to late 80s were hell for car enthusiasts. |

you know what the slowest cars on the planet are (other than automatic geos)?
old subarus. i had to drive my friend's 85 subie home one night because he was trashed. we start going up a hill, i floor it, we actually lose speed and rpm's. if you ever want to get a first-hand idea of how far subaru has come, drive this for a day, then hop back in your wrx/sti/forester/baja/etc.. |

I had a 1987 subaru gl and that thing wasn't too slow. I've driven my dad's H1 and that thing seems a lot slower then the subaru GL.

I had a '72 Pinto stationwagon that, just brfore its final death, would take close to 3 miles to get up ti 55. It was working on only 2 cylinders(sp) and one of those was weak!

I realized this weekend that my wife and I have the two fastest cars of all the cars in our section of our block.*

I used to subscribe to the theory "no replacement for displacement" until I was driving my stock '79 TA and got spanked by an 80s shelby GLH hatchback. It made me a believer that there must be some progressive thinking in 4-cyl turbos. Fast forward 15 years, and here I am, now driving a 4-cyl turbo wagon (Subaru WRX). Ironic. Subaru was nowhere near the slowest of the time. Maybe that firends car was in less than good tune, had low tire pressure or was being driven up a mountain pass in Colorado. - Janq |

92 Loyale, 3 speed automatic. When 4 friends and myself were in the car, we timed a run to 55; it took over a minute. (First 5 seconds were the car trying to decide if it was going to stall.) We were going to go for 60, but we reached our destination before we got there.
