The same could be said for Mustang GT or Camaro SS vs. BRZ or Miata RF. Hell you could even throw in the old H6 Cayman to that comparison if you want. Lots of ways to tear down Porsche when comparing to other brands with bigger and more and value. That hasn’t changed. Rebelling against a P badge for diminished perceived value is silly given the car performs quite well at any price point.

They do big discounts because they can't sell them - whys that?

No one is is forcing you to buy a 718 - but you should drive one and then you
might learn something and understand why people like them and Porsche sports cars in general.

Noting, at best Porsche may offer a tiny discount but in many cases buyers have to pay an ADM which in some cases can be very significant.

What do people like about them, corners and high corner speeds due to a chassis on par with a 488.

To give you an idea of the the gulf, earlier this year (here in OZ) a 718S was tested against a variety of performance cars - a QF was in that test - the 718S was 3 seconds faster round a 1:30s circuit than the QF - that is a huge margin. It was even quicker on the strip and to 60mph. Yet its an entry level sportscar.

The GTS is sharper again.

Test drive a Porsche 718 S then a Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrafiglio a much less expensive car. Even the standard Giulia has better steering and braking feel and a new sport version soon out with increased HP and performance will put 4 banger Porsche to shame.

I'll take Porsche reliability and warranty over Alfa any day.

^ +1. Add to that the resale value, and that's plenty of reason to choose a Porsche over something else that might be a little spicier. We have yet to see how the 4 cylinder cars depreciate, but other cars in P car price range depreciate like crazy.

718 Cayman and Boxster GTS 4.0 configurators are up.

That normally-aspirated six sounds amazing. I tarted one up in green with some basic luxuries and its just under 100k. I'm kinda disappointed in the long gear ratios, tho. 2nd gear goes to 80mph?

Sounds excellent for Autocross. But PDK is the way to go IMO.

Sounds the same as the GT3 . . . which is perfect considering the GT3 hangs with cars that put down significantly more power and always feels like it's in the sweet spot of the powerband.

Viper/Murci go to 90mph in second.

yeah, if you're going to track the car you might as well just pay the extra for the GT4 and get the PDK. Way outside my skill range, however.

My last motorcycle was 80 mph in 1st gear with 5 more to go.

Sold it before it killed me.
