Default Possible none avcs cam in 04 sti

So I bought a set of v25 heads a few years back and finally put her in use. The long block is under 2000 miles and Iím having trouble tuning avcs (throwing both p0011 and p0021 under boost) cursing and idle is fine and shows avcs is working through ap monitoring. But everytime I get in boost, Iím getting codes for intake cam on both banks. All banjo bolts are free from filters, cleaned the control valves and it moves nicely, am I missing something? Iím starting to suspect the cams are for none avcs.. The car ran fine on the last setup with stock heads and the long block was the only thing that got replaced. What are my options? I was like to not pull the motor and swap the cams if I donít absolutely have to, and avcs is not necessary for me. Appreciate all the help and thanks in advance.

Yeah, it's possible. You'll need to get an AVCS kit or appropriate hardware to plug up oil feeds and such, but it can be done. You'll need a retune afterward, of course.

I'd probably try to figure out if the cams are AVCS or not. If you pull the timing cover off and remove the intake AVCS sprocket you could tell. There will be one (maybe a few, I don't remember) oil gallery hole on the face of the cam.

Another possibility is that the intake AVCS gears need to be cleaned or reassembled (alignment and ease of fitment are important). I always send mine to Outfront Motorsports to have them make 100% sure all is well.
