More goodies! Managed to find a set of ID1000s with 5k miles for a good price, so i snagged them. They'll be cleaned and flow tested before install just to be safe.

So, if anyone in the Mid-Atlantic region is going to Panda Junction in May, my car will be there in VIP. Its the first shown ill be at where I wont be in spectator parking, so thats pretty exciting.

Since i havent posted in a while, here are some photos i found, taken by various people, at my local Cars & Coffee this past weekend.

Here's a some photos i took in the last month or so. Still saving pennies to grab the last few things i need for the turbo swap. Just want to focus on finishing up this semester of school, then ill be able to pick up more shifts at work and put more time and money into the car

Default Chris Pedersen's Bugeye Thread

So its been a little while since ive posted so i figured I would give a little update.

I finally have all the parts gathered for the turbo swap! I picked up a few extras as well, namely, a helix 3" catless downpipe, which i have mated to a custom catback with dual 3" blast pipes. Super loud, but i love it.

Here is the full list of parts that will be going on when i do the swap:

VF34 turbo
08 STi TMIC
Grimmspeed ewg uppipe
Tial 38mm ewg
ID1000s with PnP adapters
AEM 320 fuel pump (e85 compatable)
Grimmspeed EBCS
ACT HDSS clutch

I'm planning to install this all myself, with the exception of the clutch, since i dont have the tools to do that in my garage. Once i have the money for that and the tune, its go time.

And heres a few recent photos of the car.

Car is looking good man!!

I am thinking about getting that apr front splitter as well. I bought the s204 v-limited front lip to go under my prodrive lip, but I'm not sure I want something that low.

I love the splitter, cant really see my car without it now. I just have to be careful driving because its definitely not cheap to replace lol

Traded my bugeye rear seats for a set of STi rear seats so i finally have matching front and rears. If all goes according to plan, ill be swapping my door cards for sti ones next week. Also installed a set of Quik Latch bumper releases, since my apr splitter covers my oil filter and forces me to remove my bumper for oil changes.

nicely done.

Any info on the LED F-1 style flashing brake light & 3rd brake light mod? I'd love to have this.

edit: also details on the Visual Autowerks vent install. How exactly do they install? I assume they are on the outside of the window and the window can still fully close behind them? They don't have install info on their website. I keeps seeing more and more of them around. I like the idea over and above my JDM Vent Visors/Gutters

Thanks.

Not sure if you have instagram, but this is the guy who sells them. The f1 bulbs are plug and play into the factory sockets-no wiring needed. Hes a good seller and ships fast, so i definitely recommend him

As far as the window vents, There is a groove in the vent that rests on the window. You the wind the window down, shut the door, and wind up the window to hold the vent in place. The window cant fully close when theyre on, but they take about 5 seconds to remove in case of rain.

what are the vents mate of? So in essence the vent rides on TOP of the window when its lowered and I could use in conjunction with my Vent Visors, which was my ultimate question.

I am not on instagram, but can easily be if I have too. So the bulbs are LED, but what about the F1 style flash with brakes? That has to be a module of some type, yes?

Thanks.

Rob

The vents are plastic and yes sit on top of the window, so im sure you could use them with the visors no problem. When you order them, you can choose to have the holes open like i have, or you can have them made with a mesh screen. You can also choose, black, silver, or brass rivets.

As far as the bulbs, the flashing module is built into the bulb. Literally plug and play to get the flashing. No extra wiring, no extra modules, its as easy as changing out the brake bulbs.

Updates!

The past few days, a friend and i have been working on the turbo swap. We pulled the motor to install the clutch and the turbo parts. As of now, the motor is back in the car, we just need to tighten down all the bolts and put the radiator and a couple other things back.

Im going to be tuned by Anthony Berry at PSI Proformance in PA. He sent me a base map so i can drive the car around until i go in for the tune on October 5th.

Side note: this was my first motor pull, and its amazing how easy it is to pull subaru motors. We had it ready to come out in just under 2 hours

Motor out of the car

Clutch, turbo, ewg, injectors all installed

Back in the car awaiting a few more things to be reinstalled

Got the car tuned 2 weeks ago. Ended up making 286whp/261wtq. Would have made more but we found out that one of my TGV motors was receiving lower voltage than the other, causing it not to open as much and therefore making boost taper off sooner than it should have. Other than that, the car feels great, it pulls hard and im happy with it right now, but TGV deletes and a retune are definitely in my future.

Also got a few pictures back from when I was in OC for h2oi a few weeks ago. Enjoy!

Default Chris Pedersen's Bugeye Thread

So i finally decided go log back into nasioc, and i realized i havent updated/ended this thread in almost 3 years, so here we go:

In spring 2018, i changed up the wheel setup to a set of Rotiform TMBs that i powdercoated white. I was the Visual Autowerks booth car at boxerfext that year as well.

In late summer 2018, i blew what turned out to be the center diff. The car sat for a while, and i ended up starting to lose interest and parted out the majority of the aftermarket parts and put the car back to stock, with the exception of the engine parts. Once i got the diff fixed in early 2019, which i did by installing a new 5 speed, i remembered how fun it was to drive, and decided to keep the car and build it up again, even though it was no longer my daily driver.
I purchase a full Airlift kit and a set of Work VS-SS 3 piece wheels. Those never made it onto the car, since the center diff in the replacement transmission decided to blow in the fall of 2019. Around the same time, i also got into a car accident that totaled the truck i was daily driving at the time (no one was hurt). After all of that, i decided to purchase a 2013 STi sedan with 12k original miles in November 2019. I then ended up selling the bugeye in March 2020.

This is far from the end of my subaru adventures, as i am currently working on this sti build. I am doing an FP blue turbo and flex fuel, along with a ton of other supporting mods, shooting for 400whp. I will be posting the progress on my instagram page, @pedersen_chris.
If youíre still following this thread, i really appreciate it. I never thought my bugeye would get to where it did when i bought it back in 2014, almost completely stock.
Iíll end this thread with a few photos of the bugeye on the Rotiform wheel setup, and a few photos of my current STi.

Congrats on the STI. Sad to see the bugeye go but also happy to see it was replaced with a very nice STI, lots of luck with it. Keep the thread updated with the new build
