Thanks man! Yeah, definitely going to be on cloud 9 when I get this thing back. Approaching 4 months without it

Car is mechanically done. Just needs the break-in tune and I can pick it up. Hopeful for this week.

Aww bummer man. Sorry to hear. Good luck with the sale. Seems like a lot of people are selling lately. I know you did a lot of tasteful mods to yours. Hoping you get a good price for it.

Yeah I listed my Hawkeye STi for sale on here, IWSTI, FB Marketplace and the Subaru FB groups.

I bought it 2 years ago and just rarely drive it. I think I put on 3k miles in the 2 years and 600 miles of that was the drive home.

Good news. They tuned it on Friday. Pickup will be Tuesday or Wednesday of this coming week.

Damn. Thatís not a lot of seat time. Did you not like it? Or just prefer the accord more?

My Accord is the daily. I drive a good bit for work so the Accord is much better/cheaper option (87 octane, automatic, softer suspension, ect). The STi was weekend/fun car but never drove it much. Tried to find time to drive it but never did much.

I had an '07 WRX that I bought brand new in May 2007 and used that as a daily. I liked that. Then I traded that in for a '15 WRX which was meh.. it had its first year model issues. That's when I traded it in for the '15 Accord.

I'd be curious if you would like the 2008-2014 model year. A lot more creature comforts than previous model years. Chassis isn't as stiff as the 2015+, so some might find that a bit more comfortable. I definitely appreciate what Subaru is doing with their FA motors, but I don't have the same feelings for them as I do the EJ.

Here's a crappy pic of my car I took at high noon this past week when I was picking up my stock parts:

Can't wait to bring it home, wash it and start enjoying it again. This process has been less than thrilling. Lol

Let me know how you like the EFR. I love it on my car

Its been down 4 months now, and I finally got it back together only to have my cam caps leak oil. so I gotta take the engine back out this weekend.

Ugh

She's home

I'm starting a huge project tomorrow at work, so I'll keep this short.

I picked up the STI just before R/T Tuning closed today. Very happy to have her back. It's been 4 months. Kinda felt like I had to relearn the car. (I've been driving a manual 2005 Xterra, so what a difference getting in my car again.) God I missed the STI.

We're waiting on the new black Grimmspeed TMIC to arrive. And then I'll resell this silver one. I want to ask about possibly shortening the intake for fear of hydrolock since this is a daily driver. I wanna see what they say. Maybe make one able to work with an airbox?

Also, the exhaust tips now stick out an extra 2" or so. Evan strikes again. His downpipe must be 2" too long. Pushing the midpipe and axleback 2" further back. So I want to see about cutting a 2" section out of the midpipe to get us back to where the tips should be.

I can't wait to dress up the engine bay with the Password JDM goodies. Really going to clean everything up nicely. Also, Lancaster recommends 04-07 oil filler neck to clean things up a bit more as well.

I'm on the break-in tune for 1000mi. 4000rpm rev limiter and 9psi boost max. Not much fun. But the HKS SSQV BOV sure sounds nice.

The suspension adjustments feel good. No rub. And we got the rear lower, but with the RacerX RUCA's, it brought the wheels in a bit to avoid rubbing. Not as impressive in the rear, but it wasn't drivable before. So function over form

Congrats on getting your car back. Sorry to hear that your still finding issues with the rotated set up but hopefully easy to remedy.

If you opt for a box for the intake, figure out a way to push air in from somewhere other than directly from the wheel well. Iíve been using the Cobb intake and box for a while now and realizing that the heat coming off the exhaust manifold impacts AIT in stop and go way more than I expected. Even with the snorkus still on...

My intake sits too far down into my wheel well, and every time i get a car wash it gets soaked and the car loses its mind and goes really rich when I get into boost because the MAF gets wet.

its annoying as hell, and I'm looking to get a custom intake made for it as well.

Looks like its going to rip man, rotated with a TMIC will be a lot of fun! I'm glad you finally have it back. That sucks about the exhaust being 2" longer now but should be an easy fix.

Thanks man. Hoping to get the exhaust shortened before the final tune in October.
Going to shoot R/T an email with some install questions for some engine bay bits.

You should get your headers coated. That makes a huge difference in controlling temps on the intake.

I might consider a custom box where I can use a snorkel.
K&N makes this for the 2015:

Almost looks like the box would fit my intake with some modification.

I spoke with R/T about the length of the intake and how it sits near the wheel well and expressed my concerns given that it's a daily and gets driven in the rain. And I mentioned your issue with car washes. They think, especially now since I'm Speed Density tuned, I shouldn't have any issue, unless the intake filter actually gets submerged. Which I don't take chances in standing water, so shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks man. Yeah, eager to get that exhaust shortened ASAP. Looks silly sticking out too far.

Here's a shot of the final fitment with the RacerX Fab RUCA's:

Not as aggressive looking as before, but no rub. A very happy medium of form and function.

I still need to fine tune the dampening settings on the new Michelin tires since they have a stiffer sidewall compared to my old summer tires.

It's on the (long) list. I'm still on the stocker for now, but have an ELH I'm getting modified that will be coated before install. Appreciate the input.
