I'll check ebay. Is there any low quality knock off crap floating around, or is it generally all the same stuff?
I wanted to try wrapping my roof.

Yes, there are knockoffs. You just need to make sure youre getting the 3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber. You'll likely want the "Black"
In your hand, you'll immediately know the difference between 3M Di-Noc and printed CF vinyl. 3M is textured. And if you look on the back it says 3M Give Dan @ MachV a call. Tell him I sent ya. He'll hook you up. |

An excellent quality of the DiNoc is it's air release/"ControlTac" properties, making a bubble free application. I will gladly wrap a whole car with DiNoc (that's what I'm doing with the roll) but will not wrap a laptop lid in standard vinyl. The ORACAL 970RA is a breeze to work with, too

Cant wait to see pictures of your car wrapped with this stuff.
Are you going to add sponsor decals on top, or just leave it bare? |

The first car we're doing isnt mine, but Im pretty sure he's going to be running sponsor logos. My car will be done later down the line (along with a chrome roof to blind helicopters ) and will also be rocking sponsors.
Its actually incredibly hard to get vinyl decals to stick to this stuff. Ive figured out the technique behind it, but still dont know the reliability of it. |

That's going to look pretty damn cool. I bet black chrome on the roof would be pretty sick too.
How hard is it to wrap a wagon's roof with this stuff? (02 wrx) I know there is prep work like cleaning the surface, allowing it to dry, but that's as far as my knowledge goes. |

I bought mine off of ebay, there are some good deals on it there. What i bought is the real stuff the 3m dinoc stuff. I did my center consul but didn't like the way it turned out. I couldn't get it to stick well in the corners around the radio. It kept bubbling back up and peeling. So i tore it all off and am in the process of painting all the trim pieces.

If youre using Di-Noc or 970RA, its not hard. Id suggest helpers and doing it dry. You shouldnt need to stretch it much except where youre pulling it into the gutters.

I bought a big roll of it to wrap my track glass on my 600rr off of ebay. It's can be a PITA, patience is key. One thing to remember is be careful how hot you get the vinyl as you will loose the CF look if it melts. I'm not done or else I would post pics.

Also, when youre squeegeeing this stuff out (or any vinyl thats not masked) make sure you use a felt covered squeegee, or wrap the plastic one in tissue to prevent scratches!
