****!

I'm not sure what's going on with my engine now but I've been noticing bogging at about 4~5k. It feels as though like I forgot to clamp the hoses on my throttle body for my TMIC however I have upgraded T clamps there. I also have a APS turbo inlet installed but I don't have a proper tune on it. I never had this problem before and now it's starting to happen more frequently. I'm going to check it out after work today but wanted to know if anyone has an idea of what it could be. The only other thing that I have on the engine is a catch can. I'm running it the same way I used to on my WRX engine. Unfortunately, the APS turbo inlet does NOT have that rear nipple to run separate catch cans.

Any ideas?

Jon

Ditto that.
The thing is to find one.
Lots of guys are holding on to them and stroking them.
But they are the best, for what I want anyway.
But for now, I will stick to the 205

we'll i've decided to go with a ECUTEK Reflash and a UTEC Delta along with a DTEC to tune my engine. I've also decided on a FP EVO III 16G

Now I have to wait till funds accumulate and will be having this tuned. The top priority right now is replacing my clutch since that gave me a scare a while back. I'm probably going with a Exedy Stage 1 with a lightened flywheel NO LIGHTER than 13lbs.

I second the post above mine, why run 2 EMs and nother boost control system? 16G is also pretty small for this motor but its your car so do whatever you will with it.

I wouldnt worry as much about the flywheel, I've got I think a 12lb flywheel on mine and have never gotten a misfire cel.

Just get someone to open source flash the ecu. There is no point to pay the money for the ecutek. Plus it locks the ecu.

The utec is great. I use one on my personal car. But its not even needed for the 16G unless you want to fine tune it yourself and or change maps with the switch.

I was never a fan of the Dtec. Just use the factory or the utec boost control.

well the ecutek was a suggestion for more precise tuning. I haven't purchased yet. I like the dtec bc abilities. I'd like to learn so that's why utec and since its jdm and aus compatible.

Im not concerned about CELs for the flywheel but rather the driveability. E3 16G is for streetability and because the only event I have at the moment is autox. Big power isnt my thing. Thanks guys

anybody running 207 short block with 205 heads? My ej205 pooped out on me last week, and I have access to a 207 short block with a spun bearing. I was thinking about putting crower 272 cams in my 205 heads and bolting them to the 207. I know I won't have the benefits of avcs, but couldn't I still use my stock ecu and tune with my ap?

Yes. You can run the EJ205 heads. The Combustion chambers are a bit larger at 52cc vs 49 for the 207 heads. Also your 205 heads are small port where the 207s are likely to be big port heads. Still, This is a good solid combination thats been done time and time again. Your ECU will run the show just fine once tuned.

on your vin plate, look at the engine code, the first 5 numbers will tell you what engine it is.

cheers

To make an ej205 like an ej207 you would need to:

1. Change the block to a semi closed deck.
2. Change the crank to a forged double drilled unit.
3. Change the rods to forged rods.
4. Port the heads
5. Chang the valves to sodium filled.
6. Weld up the Combustion chambers and remil to 49cc
7. Change the headgaskets
8. Change the cams and cam buckets to the no shim design.
9. CHang the oil pump
10. Change the water pump.
11. Mill heads to accept AVCS and sensors
12. Obtain correct cam belt and cam wheels.
13. Change intake manifold to STI
14. WHY am I typing all this out?
15. I have no idea
16. I guess I am bored.
17. Sell 205
18. Buy 207.
19. DONE.

EJ205's come with a forged crank and rods... just FYI on that

But he 207 doesn't have a cross drilled crank, which seems to be a good thing for higher RPM's and keeping your rod journals from being starved for oil

But yea, EJ205 pistons are nothing to get excited over, upgrading those is a great idea... and the EJ205 rods even being forged still leave some room for improvement as well

I really want a ver7 207... but I just picked up a 205 block in good shape for $100. Hopefully I will be able to find some 207 heads or get an extra set and have them worked....

EJ205s DO NOT have Forged Rods. I repeat. DO NOT have forged rods.
