i believe theres a spot on the block where you can put the sending unit, but im not too sure where exactly. im looking into gauges as well: boost, oil temp, coolant temp.

Either get the signal from the factory sender or tap into the radiator. Like the person above said there is somewhere in the block, but I do not know where.
I have a Boost and I have recently installed a tranny fluid temp as I am in a 4EAT. Coolant temp is read by the factory gauge. I might get EGT (Very Important, more so than A/F), Oil Pressure, and maybe Engine Oil Temp. Alex |

Try the coolant crossover pipe on top of the block under the inlet manifold. The Factory temp sensor is plugged into it, and on a lot of the models I have seen there is already a second hole with a plug. If not then you may be able to T into the hole an put two sensors in there.
Another option is to put it in the location for the engine block heater. That is a large plug on the bottom of the engine, drivers side closer to the front. |

Yes, I know this thread is very old. But the internet continues and people still buy gauges and they still use Google to search (like me)
Crossover pipe seemed to be the best option IMO. I took it off and the pipe has freeze plugs in it. Use an M18x1.5 tap and buy a pro sport oil galley plug. The same one for oil pressure gauges and tap the existing hole once you take off the freeze plug. On my 09 WRX, the crossover pipe has two freeze plugs. One to the right of the OEM temp sensor and one on the back side of the pipe. My A/C bracket looks like it’ll get in the way of the sensor so I chose the backside. Plenty of clearance back there and doing it this way keeps you from splitting you upper radiator hose and running a wire close to the belts. Note: line up the tap so your threads aren’t crooked. The last thing you want is to file the pipe flat to have the galley plug sit flush with the pipe. Sent from my iPhone using NASIOC |
