Question computer pros, please help???

I have an extra box w/ motherboard(aopen AK33) 900mhz processor(i believe) 2x128meg RAM(both work tested in another box) CDrw and a 64mb pci graphics and 128 AGP graphics( i know both work from another box).
Is it possible to enter BIOS w/o having a IDE Hard Drive installed?
Im curious as to if the processor/board is fried or not. I have tried turning on system with the PCI card in it and then the AGP card and the LED's on the board light up but there is nothing on the monitor(which works, also from another setup). I have no extra HDD so there is not one hooked up but would be willing to buy a cheapo or risk using a slave drive if it is necessary to receive any signs of life from this box.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

you can enter the bios with nothing installed but keyboard, power, ram, cpu and video.

without functional video tho, youre screwed.

Try taking the BIOS battery out for a few mins (WITH MACHINE UNPLUGGED) and then reinserting it, then try turing it on.

Also..make for damn sure that proc is accepted by that mainboard. If you question the proc...post ALL the letters and numbers you see on the very top edge of the proc (if its card type) or whats screened on the top of the proc (socket type). Include everything including spaces, dashes etc.

thanks. i figured you should be able to enter bios and have tried delete, f2 etc. I think the processor is fried. It is a box from where i use to work that was being trashed when they upgraded and was stripped of all but cdrw and board/processor and i've just gotten around to trying to revive it. I dont know whether it would even be worth the money to buy a new processor and see if that works or just build a new one and try out the new 64bit era.

ive tried removing battery, setting cmos clear jumper, and i know the processor is compatible as it worked fine in the past. but it is 27016.

Go 64 bit. Its not worht the time and money dicking around with old stuff.

This is coming from a person who JUST upgraded from a 700mhz, 384MB so take my word on this.

i hear that. Did u upgrade to 64 bit and if so how do you like it? I figure it is probablly very fast and have looked at building one but was curious as to how it works with the current market as it is a somewhat new design. Is it compatible with current games/business products or do they have to be 64bit ready?

actually no i didnt go 64 bit. I couldnt possibly regret it more.

64 bit architecture is backwards compatible with 32 bit, so no worries there. Even if little takes advantage of it now...its worth getting ahead of the game.
