i think it is kinda dumb to have her join the men's tour in some respects, in others, it may not be so bad.
you don't see crappy men players joining the women's tour. And this Sorenstam chick isn't like the best golfer ever, either, so there's no need to place her with the "better" competition. It really does stink of a publicity stunt. |

I think it really is for publicity though....
I'm completely ALL FOR female golfers playing in male tournaments, as long as they make the cut. There shouldn't be any special exemptions given just because they're females however. Until that happens, it will be a publicity stunt. If there wasn't a tour for women golfers already, then I might think differently. The last tournament that Vijay and Annika played in together (some multi-course special event thing), Vijay beat Annika by 15 strokes or so. That's a huge margin. As Vijay says, there are a bunch of guys out there trying to make a living. And by putting her in the tournament, they're taking away a spot from a guy who could have qualified and possibly won some money. I would really like to see Annika do well, I think she's a great golfer. But I don't think this is really the best thing for her. Give her a spot in the qualifier for the tournament, then see if she makes it. |

Annika is a good women's golfer. Compare her to the men and she is bottom of the pack material. I don't see why she needs to play on the men's tour. She wins good money on the women's tour and is regarded as the best the women have to offer in golf. She's going to make an ass out of her self. It's obviously only for publicity since they have leaked many stories of her playing against men and losing horribly. She played Tiger Woods in a 72 hole one on one match and lost by 60 strokes!! There is no point in playing competition like that when you aren't even in the same ballpark.

it's a nice publicity stunt, but why would anyone watch the womens' tour if all of the good women were competing on the mens' tour? It's tough to have it both ways. I could understand back in Babe's day when there wasn't a womens' tour, but now there's a lot of money and good competition on the womens tour.
here's an interesting question: Are men excluded from qualifying for the womens tours? There are probably a lot of men who would have a much better shot at that prize money than the PGA prize money. |

If there's such a stink about it, like I said, make EVERYONE go to Q-school, and then instead of PGA and LPGA have a PGA (coed) and something like a Junior PGA for the people who score well but not as well. |

I think it would be horrible to let some of the guys that miss the PGA qualifier play on the womens' tour. But, again, this goes to the issue of having it both ways.
I guess it's a fun diversion, but until one woman starts winning every week, there's plenty of money and competition for the women on the LPGA tour. |

Now that doesn't mean that Vijay shouldn't be more respectful and keep his mouth shut. He's faced his own little hardships with some people who haven't respected his race as related to the game. |

Tally another vote for Publicity Stunt! Remember a few years ago when they wouldn't let that d00d use a cart in the league? I do. He could golf awesome, but couldn't walk so good, right? Did they let him use the cart?
I don't think they did, so why should they let her in? Just thinking out loud, I guess... <------- scrambling to find news story for facts |

Why have a womens tour if they can join the mens tour? Are they going to expect to use the closer tee boxes also? Why is it that its OK to have a mens league that women can join but men can't join the womens league? It would be funny if a group of the male golfers entered the womens tournaments just to pick up some easy money. Then again the equal rights people only like it when its to their advantage.

isn't like she is the best golfer ever? She happens to be better than any other player in the world at the moment. She has won more titles, she is better than the men in accuracy and several other stats. If she were stronger (i.e. had the distance) she could take on anyone in the world. I for one hope she kicks ass! Of course it is publicity, do you have any idea how much money is involved with these tours? Only the biggest corporations can sponsor most events. ALL sports is about advertisement, and at core, money. Edit: I think there should be one tour, both men and women, but with weight classes like boxing to make it a fair competition. (with an overall title as well of course) |
