Tires
I have a 2014 subaru wrx hatch and I am wanting to buy some new all season tires. Since there are a lot of options out there. What do you think would be the best all season tire?

How about a clue where you are?
Down south, no snow so rain and dry is more important. Up north, snow is a biggie. |

I have been pretty happy with my Continental ExtremeContact DWS. I probably need to replace them this season but I have had no problems driving through several inches of snow with them.

+1 for the DWS tires. The new DWS06 are even better. Comfortable ride and plenty of grip.

We have no idea.
Do you live in Mombasa, Kenya or International Falls, ND? That kinda helps. Is this for purpose use "winter tires" or year round use? Do you care about treadwear more or performance?.....do you know the tradeoff between these? |

Sorry to hijack your post!
Since I do have the same question, but don't wanna post another thread. I am in northern CA, no snow but will go to Tahoe once to twice every winter, very rare I will hit snowing during the trip, but already got the chains just in case. I am planning to get Toyo R1R for my daily drive and have fun with it in autocross, also the R1R seem performing pretty good in the rain and most importantly I can get those in a pretty good deal. Any way, for the only two times of the year. Do I really need a set of winter wheels and tires? Or R1R can make it with the chains? |

Tires
Tires are shoes for your car. The intended use and expected performance characteristics are relevant.
Since you're looking for all seasons I assume you're going to drive in all season conditions to some extent. I recently opted for the Continental DWS06 and I'm quite satisfied with wet and dry traction, stability and response (60*F +). It's pretty good tire so far. I'm eager to test them out in snowy conditions. I got 225/45 17's for $114 ea on TireBuyer.com (which has free same day shipping to select installers) along with a coupon code I found online. If you buy through Ebates.com they'll give you 4.5% cash back on the purchase as well. I'm pretty sure TireBuyer is a derivative of TireRack; they're worth checking out. |

They replaced my Pirelli P Zero Nero M&S tires on my 98 Legacy wagon, they stopped making my size. I'm running a 225/50-16" on RS 7 x 16" rims. |

The Conti DWS are know for being good in the snow and all around daily driver needs. Conti usually makes a well riding tire too.
I'd strongly recommend the BF Goodrich Comp-2 A/S. We got a set for my girlfriend's Sentra and they ride well and provide plenty of street grip. I found some STI wheels locally I wanted for autox which also came with them and was amazed they did VERY well at autox despite being an all season. To put that in perspective, I usually race on RE-11's, RS3's... 200TW 'race' tires. I felt the Comp 2's lacked slightly in grip, but provided great feedback and stability. Keep in mind, this well above the limits you'll be seeing on the street. I'd highly recommend the BF Goodrich's to anyone looking for a decently priced all season. |
