well update...Called USAA and they did a further look into the VIN in another system...and it does reflect 2.0L H4 AWD Wgn.....so despite the description on the ID card saying WRX/STI..it appears the insurance evaluation is accurate........sigh.....wishing it was a few bucks less...as it more than the 11 Outback and the 09 CTS....
I did an online quote through USAA before placing my Impreza order; the new Impreza was about $9 more per month than my 2002 Forester. I thought that seemed fair, considering the difference in value...

I approve of this post. Moving average is best, no doubt, as each tank has too much potential error on an individual basis to be of much use, but a moving average will give you a set of more regular numbers.

That is why when using a 9,000 mile -vs- a 300 mile consumption average, you will find that the digital readout is much more accurate than the 300 mile single tank calculation. The digital readout is still off a bit; however, not by much.

There are a number of accessories that are not totally unique to the Impreza, they can be reviewed here.

Yep, that is where I pointed the dealer, but again since it wasn't on his accessory list from Subaru then it doesn't exist.

Like I said, I wish I could just go to the parts department and order what I want instead of having to go though the salesman to get it all on the sales order.

I get the feeling that the "Love is worth waiting for" promotion was never really explained to the dealers. He initially told me I should have received a gift certificate from SOA (even though I have not taken delivery of the car yet).

Talk to the Sales Manager, he should be able to get things rolling. You will have the price for the car and factory accessories, then he will add the dealer installed (or provided) accessories to the "ticket" for the total purchase price. Sales normally does not handle the "extras" that are not directly listed for the car being purchased - don't know why; however, some places do while other do not.

The Sales Manager will need to handle the $500 for the "Love is worth waiting for" program. I will be picking up my 2012 Sport Limited tomorrow morning and this will be a discussion topic. This is something new for Subaru and the sales manager was going to research it further. The "deal" is not good until you take possession of the car - in other words you need to buy the car first. Now some dealers may bend the rules a bit if they are certain of what your intent is and they are comfortable that you will not back out of the deal. Some options; where the dealer would not be involved, may result in a "coupon" being sent to you.

The error comes from the amount of fuel in your tank at beginning of calculation and the amount of fuel in your tank at the end of calculation.
When you do the single-tank calculation, the error is fill-up #2 minus fill-up #1. When you do the four-tank calculation, the error is fill-up #5 minus fill-up #1. It doesn't matter what the errors are for fill-ups #2-4 (It matters for subsequent calculations if you're doing moving averages). The potential error is statistically the same, but now the error is spread over 4 times as many miles as well as 4 times as many gallons.

To be truly accurate the full tank must be exactly the same for each fill-up and it never will be - too many variances come into play. It is akin to trying to measure how much beer you have drunk when comparing 12 ounce bottles to 12 glasses of Tap Beer. The 12 ounce bottles are static (same each time), while the tap glasses are dynamic (may or may not have 12 ounces in each glass).

Mileage

I'm on my 3rd tank. First full up I didn't record but was close 16 mpg... OUCH! I assumed it was because the dealer didn't completely fill up. So I tracked the next fill up at 19.6 mpg, right on point with the gauge estimate. Here's my fuelly profile o track that http://www.fuelly.com/driver/SleepNMnky

Currently my gauge says average of 27 since getting the car & 36 for this tank. I'll be filling up tonight so keep an eye on fuelly. We should see the #s improve slowly as the "break in period" is achieved. I only have 550 miles on the car so far.

How come the link only shows one fill-up @ 187 miles?

Because I didn't track the first full up. I'm not sure how to edit total miles on the car.

Didn't get splash guards & rethinking it. I found them on eBay for $80. Looks pretty simple to install. Think this is an easy do-it-yourself for someone who's good at technical/construction stuff but with no car install experience?

Anyone with regular splash guards on a standard or premium that can post pics?

anyone have any close up pictures of the installation of the autodimming mirror with homelink? was thinking about getting that, but wanted to see how the electrical connection goes.

Someone please help me. I have a black and gray 2012 sport premium on order, but I can't find what options come stock on that model. I know for sure I'll need to get my racks, all weather mats, and mesh grille. But do I need to add the spoiler, cargo slip mat, splash guards, sill plates, sliding armrest, and luggage cover?

If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it, as I need to get this info to my salesman before my car arrives.

Also - Does a base price of $20056 sound about right for this model?

Thanks!

I ordered a mbp but when I saw the silver one next to a base mbp sedan fresh off the truck, I quickly bought the silver 5 door. It hid the dust and dirt from shipping a lot better which is good since I park in a dirt lot every day.
I really wanted white/black. I was a bit bummed that it wasnt available in the base or premium.

Cut the difference with the dealer and state that you will only be willing to pay the invoice price and they install them at no cost to you. If the options are included on a special order the VIP pricing should also apply to them.

First up, front bumpers are NOT drilled out at port even if cars are going to a state where a front plate is required. Pape Subaru in Maine lied and told me the port drilled the holes, however when I later saw a truck full of fresh Imprezas for unloading, the bumpers were not drilled

I have had two dealers try to get me a front plate bracket and both failed. One just told me that the part was on back order. The other was 100% confident they had one in stock. When I showed up to get it, it was a Legacy plate bracket that would never fit on the Impreza. Currently I have my front plate screwed right into the bumper so I don't get pulled over.

This is mostly due to the curb weight and possibly the average buyers age between the vehicles. People in lighter vehicles are more likely to be injured in a variety of accident types. In multi-car accidents, heavier vehicles deviate from their path less than lighter vehicles which are more inclined to "bounce off". This leads to injuries for people in the smaller cars. When I went from a new F150 with 2 air bags, no traction control, and a RWD only deathwish to a new Corolla with 6 air bags and a pile of electronic safety gizmos my insurance went from $55/month to $90/month.
