I talked to another dealer. They claim they're selling at MSRP but it sounds like the waiting list is to the moon. Apparently their process consists of getting an allocation, calling people on the list, and the first person that rushes down to the dealer to put their deposit down gets it.

I can't get a straight answer out of anyone and no one really wants to talk about it when pressed on it. I threw my 4Runner out there as trade bait, even though I have no intention of trading anything in on a GRC, so.....

I hope Toyota gets their ass in gear for the next model year. I understand the margin on a car like this is probably nothing, but there's no shortage of demand.

Only a few hundred cars have been delivered. Yes it will get better, much better, as time goes on.

the hype will fade, interest rates will make it more unobtainable for more people, prices will fall...

finance interest rates aren't going to impact your avg gr corolla buyer. they don't understand it and purely look at it from a monthly payment standpoint.

what will matter is the high interest rates affecting the entire economy and pushing those marginal buyers out of a job. no job. no gr corolla.

the supply on these cars are so short that the lowest they'll go for is msrp. they would have to sit in the dealer lot for at least 90 days before they even consider discounting them. the economy would have to be really bad for that to happen.

these cars are never worth more than msrp.

by the time you sell it, you'll never get that ADM back. essentially donating money to a dealership. it's just a civic/corolla at the end of the day.

Turns out, there are enough people willing to pay ADM for ADM to continue to exist; who knew that would be a thing?!?!

People are stupid; literally, most people are stupid; surprisingly, our public education system, as severely underfunded as it is, has failed us; who could have seen that coming.

Being stupid got nothing to do with the school system or parenting.

Really? is that the hill you're willing to die on? I mean, hey, I'm from the North-East, so yeah, coastal & corner, but I've spent time in Texas, California, Washington, Hawaii, Florida & other states; it appears to be region specific.

I mean, there is a spectrum of intelligence people are born with; but I disagree vehemently with this. How people are raised and educated in their formative years is tremendously impactful on who they grow up to be.

Agree. I remember back in the day intellectuals discussed parents who let the tv raise their kid. Instead of engaging them, spending time with them, forcing them to read, to learn, to play sports, etc, they parked them in front of the TV. In public school I could tell who these kids were. Never got decent grades, just got by, I mean you’re fat to boot and you’re 13? It was obvious.

Now you have a generation who was raised on the internet + TV. And another generation who was raised on social media applications and smartphones. Denzel Washington has a great quote about this you can find. He says it all starts at home. Bad parents or absentee parents make bad children that grow up to be bad adults. Intelligence is a part of that.

I consider myself very fortunate. I raised myself from a young age. Single parent, who was never home. Poverty. If there was a full fridge it was Christmas because it was so rare. It was also rare to have the rent paid, electricity working, and the phone all at the same time. Very rare. I was fortunate that God gave me a high IQ, and the school systems I was in, were decent. I was a straight A student. No education, I’d bet I would have been in the ground a few decades ago because I did have 2 near death experiences.

Sid was right above. Idiocracy is here. Our society is full on stupid. The worst it has ever been. Marketing, advertising, influencing, all more important than education, intelligence, thinking for yourself. It’s sad, pathetic and it’s only going to get worse.

hopefully there's a good tuning solution that isn't piggyback. though it's already running at 25psi factory, not sure if there's a lot of headroom left without going bigger turbo.

Apparently, a local dealer sold a Core for $60k last night.

For that kind of money, I'm looking at RS3s, not Corollas.

Unless the ecu is locked (doubtful) I'm sure it's 4-6 months before flash tunes, etc. Wouldn't be surprised if BM3 comes out with a handful of tunes rather quickly (again, assuming the ecu isn't locked).

i've yet to see evidence of the GR Yaris factory ECU being tuned and the car has been out for over a year.

we're just assuming the GR Corolla will have a similar ECU, but the fact that there isn't a solution for the GR Yaris doesn't make me confident about the GR Corolla.
