fuel rail problem (very long)
if you recall my recent posts about engine stalling well many of you suggested that i had a bad o2 sensor or map sensor to put my stock parts back on and take it to the dealer. however i figured that wasnt the case because i have no check engine light showing.
someone suggested the dec.air function of the afc, so i checked that,,,, fine. then i went back to check all the afc wires, with the engine running, found that wiggling a wire (map out) would cause it to stall, so i redid that wire (i really wish i knew how to solder and had the equipment) then i was told the afc needs to be set to sensor type pressure instead of hotwire, so i did that and got a check engine light, set it back to hotwire and it went off. so i set it back to pressure and went to clear the ecu. then i decided to just take the fpr out since the afc takes care of the fuel managment (well would when it works), and i would have to to take it back to the dealer. I got it out with no problem and went to put the fuel regulator back on, i got the vacumm hose 90% of the way on there and couldnt get it any further, i noticed then that i had bent the fuel rail trying to put it on (not bad tho), i couldnt get the hose back off, so i cut it, i scrapped the rail with the knife but it didnt go through. i cut the hose to about 6 inches and put in on the rail, and clamped it down. bolted the regulator back on and cleaned up the spilt fuel. when i reconnected the battery and turned the key to 'on' i could hear fuel spill out, i checked under the car and it had fuel all over the ground, did it a few times and the puddle grew. its 1am now so its dark and i have no flash light, so im feeling the rail to see where its wet and the vacumm hose and fuel regulator are drenched. there is fuel all over the cylindar heads. but since i cant see i cant locate exactly where it is spilling, and i cant watch the fuel rail and turn the key at the same time. what could be my problem? where could the fuel be spilling from? the hose covers atleast 4" of the rail and is clamped down... please help, i dont want to start it and have the fuel ignite and blow up on me. why did i buy that pos fpr anyhow?

Did you try turning your key to the on position and getting out and looking for the fuel leak? use a flashlight of course. What ever is leaking, it'll probably leak with just the key turned on as the fuel pump will run continually to make up the fuel lost in the leak.
Check it out, I'll be on-line for 15~20 minutes more. Rey. |

ok, well i went out this morning since i can actually see, i had a very hard time sleeping last night. made sure that the clamp and two screws were on nice and tight, and turned the key on,, no fuel leaked out, i was happy. so i turned started the car, it took ALONG time to actually fire up, and i checked in the engine and gas was spilling out like crazy, so ofcourse i went and turned it off before the whole thing blew up.
i then realized that i didnt put the little rubber o-ring back on the regualtor, so i put that on, but i havent tried starting the car again, with all of the screwing and unscrewing with those screws that are so hard to get to, the bottom one is getting kind of stripped, so im not going to continue till i get a new screw. but that o-ring couldnt possible be the problem right???? after starting the engine and the fuel spilling every where i inspected the engine and it looks more like its coming from around the vacumm hose area, so i will put longer hose on there, but i cant get the thing back off now because of that bend. this thing is driving me crazy. |

I am having a hard time understanding exactly what you are attempting to say, but if you have a vacuum or fuel line that is stuck and you want it off try prying CAREFULLY at the end of it with a flat blade screwdriver. Don't gouge yourself or the hose.
