Has anyone seen 18" 501s on a 2015+ WRX?

For everyone sending PMs and asking.

15 inch wheels will no longer clear the factory brakes on the current generation WRX. Subaru has increased rotor diameter to 12.4in which eliminates the possibility of 15 inch wheels.

In general 15in diameter gravel wheels will tolerate a maximum rotor diameter of ~300mm(11.8in)

Well I bit the bullet and got them. Bronze color 17 x 8, overall pretty happy with them. They are pretty unique and not overplayed(yet).

Looking for advice from folks on whether the MR502 (+15) 15x7 with a 205/65/15, will rub anywhere in the wheel's travel on an 02 WRX (both at static and dynamic strut loads). It LOOKS like it could have clearance issues.

MR501 Vt-Spec (ET41) is much better suited to that application especially if you are focusing on performance not just an appearance.

Well, the MR501 is also ~10% weaker than the MR502?

How does this compare strength wise with other common rally wheels (Braid, TD, or other)? I can't find load ratings for those wheels...

Both the MR501 and MR502 vt-spec wheels carry higher load ratings than Speedline, Braid, Team Dynamics, Enkei. They are all in the range of 1450-1650lb load rating.

Every team we deal with including DirtFish rally school reports 25-50% reduced wheel usage throughout the season. Keep in mind bending wheels really comes down more to the driver's ability and them not hitting stuff.

The wheels are sufficiently engineered to handle the majority of abuse seen on a typical stage but they are not indestructible and will bend if a large enough piece of debris or high enough load is transmitted through them.

I recommended you run the MR501 because it maintains a better scrub radius when used with OE suspension geometry. The MR502 was designed specifically for Subaru USA's widebody car and is really suite more towards cars with revised suspension geometry, cars with brake clearance issues, or more overland style off roading.

These wheels look great! I think im going to hit up tirerack and get me a set in 17x8 MR501 Bronze.

Any idea if there are any known issues with aftermarket lug nuts and these wheels not playing nice? no brand in particular but i was thinking of getting some red lugnuts to complement my color scheme with the bronze

Just make sure you buy a quality recognized name brand lug nut, Muteki, Gorilla, McGard, etc. and you will have no issues. STAY AWAY FROM EBAY!

Discount tire has a $100 rebate on a set of 4 through the end of August. Just grabbed some for my Outback...their ordering system only showed the 15" black MR502 (apparently the 17s & 18s are super new), but they were able to locate & source 17" 501s in titanium grey. 10 days out or so...

No, as I stated above the new generation WRX moved to 12.4in diameter rotors. These will not fit inside a 15" wheel.

No one can help you with color choice. It's your car, pick what YOU like.

Scrub radius is the distance between the center of the tire's contact patch and the king pin axis where they theoretically intersect on the road. Depending on Positive, Negative, or Zero scrub radius the car will exhibit different handling characteristics. Google is your friend if you need to learn more on the topic.

the fact that a wheel provides more benefit to one suspension type or another is a joke and a lie.

You clearly have little to no understanding about vehicle dynamics and how scrub radius and wheel offset affects handling. Your generalizations are not productive in the tech section.

The wrong offset can negatively impact the following; increased torque steer, tram lining/instability, steering feel.

When Subaru USA or any other team is engineering a new race car, wheel offset is heavily evaluated when designing the suspension layout. It is also why almost all race teams use a higher offset wheel than suspension geometry dictates so they can fine tune handling at each track with 1-2mm spacers based on driver input.

Will most people on here notice the difference between a ET40 or a ET30 wheel, not likely, they are not pushing the car to the limit and have limited driving skill. However, when pushing the the limit these details are critical.
