Anyone in boulder area installed springs?
I am looking to install my eibachs this weekend, and was wondering if anyone could give me some advice, or possibly lend a hand. I am out in Louisville. I would gladly offer free barbecue if anyone wants to have a mini-meet/install. thanks-later-jedrex

Yep, I've done 'em. I was thinking about putting in my set of H&Rs this weekend. I don't know if I'm gonna have time, though.
Things that you will want for this install: full metric socket set, 3/8" drive. 1/2" breaker bar for bolts that hold strut to mount jack & jackstands A garage is also quite helpful. Doing this in the rain would suck. ...and most importantly, time. Don't rush through it. I would be happy to lend a hand, but I don't know if I'm gonna have time this weekend. We have family in town. If you can put it off 'till next weekend, I would be able to give you a hand. Give me a buzz at 303.324.0416 & we can talk about it. Cheers. -paul |

I just did mine today. Not too terrible of a chore. Took my sweet time getting it done though.
Subaru prescribes a Special Tool for securing the top mount back onto the strut. The threaded stud will just spin inside the strut, if you just try it with a socket. We used one of those offset open ended 17mm wrenches to get onto the nut and a 6mm hex head to hold the strut piston. We later found out that an impact wrench will spin the nut on fast enough that the piston doesn't even have time to spin. I got Whitelines... and I love em. |
