lost wheel lock key...what to do?
Okay, I've lost the key for my wheel locks. I'm the second owner, so I'm not sure where the wheel locks were purchased, or who the manufacturer is. Any suggestions for getting the locks off? I don't care if i ruin them in the process, since i'll have to get new ones anyway. But, i'd like to go out and get them off so i can rotate my tires.

large vise grips or you can hammer a socket onto it.. it would ruin the socket as well as the wheel lock but it will get it off.

Snap-On, Mac, etc. have special tools just for this purpose. A good tire shop, repair shop, or even a body shop should have them and be able to help you out.

any tire shop should be able to do it... it only gets tricky if there is not enough room around the lug to use a normal socket...
there is a tool (basically a socket) that you hammer over the lock, then zip the thing off... takes almost no time to do... |

If they are Subaru wheel locks, your dealer should have a master key for it. If not try any of the above suggestions,

tire shops can do it
They usually have a tool that crimps onto lug nuts so long as they are not hollow. It probably ruins the nut. They might ask that you buy a new set of locks from them for their trouble though.

i had the unfortunate honor of having this problem too
when i took it to a tire shop, they said that they couldnt guarantee or warned me to start with that there would be scratches to the rims ... i was cringing at the prospect - luckily there were alternatives |
