Default What EM to use with JDM STI engine?

Would I have to replace the ecu on my WRX if I get a Jdm Sti engine? It only makes sence. Could I run a wrx Utec or would I need an STI Utec? Do the Jdm engines come with a new ecu? I'm just trying to plan this out before I put too much crap on my USDM 2.0 motor. The 2.0 is a good starter motor for a noob like myself. Better to learn on my wrx motor than something like what im talking about. I wouldn't even know any better right now to appreciate this. Like the forged pistons for example.

Most JDM swaps come with ECU. You will need to have them reflashed so they can handle the lower octane gas here. Additionally using the same reflash you can tune the motor.

There are UTECs that can run JDM motors, but they are rare and special order.

So for tuning could I use Motec on top of ECUTEC?

if you look in the "private for sale", there was a austalia version of a UTEC for sale, which also works on the JDM ecu's with avcs or you can just have the jdm ecu reflashed

MoTec is a stand-alone. If you run a MoTec, you dont need anything "on-top of" it.

Ahh yes it is like the AEM unit. I'm so used to Utec piggyback. DUh. I got a lot to learn before I do a swap. I'm just trying to figure out a bullet proof engine. I just want the strongest and best motor money can buy, cause doing it right the first time saves money in the long run.
