Default FS: JDM (I think) front lip for BD/BG

As mentioned in this post a while back, I bought a front lip from JHot (place that sells JDM stuff on Ebay). I really only wanted the rear black plastic underbumper piece, but they were paired and I got 'em together for all of $30 + S/H, so I wasn't going to complain about getting the lip, too. Upon receiving it I realized that it wouldn't fit on a 2.5GT bumper, so it was kind of worthless to me. I've thought about perhaps incorporating it into a home-brewed deep front splitter for track use, but I'll probably never actually get around to that, so I might as well pass it on to someone else.

As I said, it doesn't fit on the 2.5GT bumper. I don't have ready access to any other bumpers, so I can't say for certain, but I think it might fit this style:
http://www.mercadolibre.cl/jm/img?s=...8_2392.jpg&v=O . Notice in that picture that the big opening in the lower bumper extends beyond the outside edges of the grille, whereas (in the pictures below) you can see the lower opening in the 2.5GT bumper is basically the same width as the grille.

I used a box to prop up the middle just so you can see the center portion is too wide to match up to my style of bumper:

Front and side views:

Bottom view to show the mounting holes:

And looking at it from the back side to show a bit more about how it mounts:

As I said, I paid $30 + S/H for it and the rear bumper piece, so I'll sell it for $15 + S/H. I'm sure S/H is going to be more than the price of the part, since it's pretty big. If you're interested, let me know...

Hmm... Looks like it will fit my '96 "L".

If nobody else wants it, I am interested.

no no no the proper way to handle this would be for Jonathan to ship you his bumper you see if it fits when it does, ship the bumper back to him and then send the lip via Hawaii. where it gets sent back to the Mainland only to be stopped at customs because the container it was in had stolen goods so it takes 5 months for it to clear and then it reaches its destination only to lost when it gets back to mass.

Nahh... shipping the entire car to Hawaii and back would be far more impressive. Especially as Pat has since moved to Rhode Island.

I dont think today is an especially good day for this as Eastern Massachusets is in the middle of the first "serious" snow storm of the season: nearly 2 inches of snow, ice and freezing rain.

If I was concerned about the selling price, I wouldn't be asking $15 for it, so offering more isn't going to get you anywhere. Jonathan has dibs on it unless he definitively says he doesn't want it.

Let me know if you want to come take a look at it Jonathan. If it fits your car and you want it we could even install it here. I don't have any hardware for it, but there's a True Value and an Autozoo both within about 5min, so it would be easy to get nuts and bolts and/or the plastic OEM-style push-in fastener thingies.

Edit: Reason01, who lives here in RI, PM'd me after Jonathan replied, so he's got 2nd dibs.

Pat

Pat -

Yes I am very interested. Enough to drive down and test fit it, if you can wait ~ a week. My 'beater' '96 Legacy L is painted 'Ruby Mica' (dark metallic red), not Quick Silver Metallic, so I would be looking to repaint the lip before installing it.

I assume this lip is fibre glass, and far more brittle the flexible ?

Well, I'm not even sure it's OEM - there aren't any Subaru markings (or really any markings at all) on it. However, it does appear to be urethane, not fiberglass. It's very flexible.

Awesome. I was thinking Winter isn't the time to be running around with a lip that says, break me into tiny little pieces. Flexible is much better.

well fiberglass parts usually have little bits of the fibers sticking out on the non-painted parts. that lip just looks like regular ole' urethane plastic to me (or really old ABS plastic at the worst).

I Drove down to Pat's new place, and test fitted the lip.

Perfect fit.

It looks awesome in silver, contrasting with the dark red colour of my Legacy, although I plan to have it painted.

Pat - Feel free to post photos of the lip.

Thank you, Pat !

The lip is, in fact, a direct fit on the bumper type that I thought it would fit on, the old base model style. The bumper cover even has all the mounting holes there to attach it, so Jonathan just needs to pick up some fasteners and he'll be good to go.

The pics of it test-fit in place:

Looking towards the side from underneath the center of the bumper you can see the bracket on the lip and you can just barely make out the hole in the horizontal lip of the bumper above it to bolt to:

I think it should look quite nice once it's painted to match the body color.
