$25 for a toggle switch, some wires, and a couple of spade connectors? Uhhh, I guess it depends on how lazy the target audience is and how much they value their money.

Most people that tune their own cars are capable enough of coming up with their own solution for a couple of bucks. And those that get their cars tuned by someone else, well, it's that tuner's responsibility to make a switch if needed.

Def like the rotational idle. I think we might give it a try on my car this year to see how it all works. We also did a green test connector switch on a car that Shek tuned and it worked very well. It was a highly engineered, highly attractive piece that would cost hundreds to replicate ........so $25 for a real one to sell would be about right in all honesty.

LOL. Jesse, I know you don't know what we're talking about so wait till we find the bill of materials and schematic. Ryan, you still have that receipt...err bill of materials from Radioshack?

Schematic:

Version 2 of this highly engineered device will include a flip-up rocket launcher style toggle switch. Flash at will, Maverick.

BTW, Jesse, I still have that switch you made me a while back. I'm probably going to rewire it up in my car again sometime.

Okay. Just seemed pretty sweet flipping that switch from the driver's seat as opposed to hanging one legs out of the car on the side of the road. I have about two dozen of them so I am going to try it out and see. I asked for and value your opinion, however. I am ignoring the value of money part of your assessment . If everyone "valued their money" then everyone would drive a yaris and drink canned beer made in jersey.

Maybe if I paint them pink ?

Being able to flip a switch IS pretty sweet. But those who reflash their cars enough to need a switch generally also are capable of building one for 1/5th the cost.

Then again, I know almost nothing about marketing and stuff like that. So maybe my estimation of business potential is way off target.

Paint a Subaru part pink, and it'll sell, no matter what it is.

Default Anyone play Skyrim?

Quote:
Being an NPC in Skyrim requires that you pass some sort of terminal stupidity check. I've created a short multiple choice test below:

Situation:
You're a small-time bandit living near Whiterun who enjoys Horker sandwiches, long walks through the countryside, and taking an arrow to the knee. There's a pair of possible marks walking close to the cave you and your handful of half-starved followers call home, seemingly unaware of your presence. As they approach, you notice that one is covered in gleaming black plate that flickers with magical energy and strange, demonic-looking runes. The other wears flexible scales with boney protrusions at the shoulders and the tough, weathered look of dragon hide. Both carry eldritch weapons of ancient design and terrible purpose.

As you spy on your potential prey, one of the figure makes a remark to the other. The second laughs -- and six birds drop dead out of the sky.

Do you:

A) Fight to the death.
B) Flee.
C) Hide. If they notice you, attempt to buy your life with the handful of gold coins and old cabbage you've managed to squirrel away.

If you answered anything but A, we're sorry -- you're just too smart to be a Skyrim NPC.
I'd like to play but it will totally kill any and all productivity.

for those of you who have attended solo racing at beaver run, how close can you get to the actual track? I'm looking to take some pictures of cars in action and need to know the average distance to gear up for it.

Pre ordered that along with a new processor, video card and ram for the old girl xps 600 . Circa 2007 and can still play the latest and greatest. This is it for her though. Next gen of games will be beyond her reach. Will live on as the new media when that time comes.

Yeah. Thing is, if your 2007 computer could run 2009 games, itll run D3 fine

My rig is overkill for the game, 130FPS with forced 8xAA and 16x AF, max detail and 2048x1152 resolution while playing the beta

Yeah, we just decided to fill the last memory slot and upgrade the processor and video card to the max it can support with the current motherboard. Most likely going to build a gaming rig late summer and make the XPS the media center pc.

Idk about Rosewill power supplies, I prefer reliable seasonic based units.

I think 1000W is overkill! My rig requires more power and is rock solid stable with a 610W PC Power and Cooling PSU.

Only thing we are set on is an i7 processor, and the tower. THat will be a cooler master 942. I think it is overkill but that's what he wants and he is paying for that part himself. Who knows what will be available by late summer but as of now the i7 3770k with ivy bride is what we are going with. Apparently 1st quarter of next year there will be a huge leap in performance with the haswell (?) based processors but we are not waiting for that. From there I will just ask you guys what is best to build around it. My son and I are going to do it together. He has a few friends that have built powerful rigs for low cost. I have you guys. Should work out right. He is telling me that we can load the OS and the games on a SSD and use the HDD for storage. Is that right ? If so does it have the benefits that I think it does ? Instant on and faster game start up with less drain on the processor ?

^^^Bee im with you. Its always years between builds and i spend months catching up and planning it out. The tech and processors change so rapidly in a matter of months it seems the latest and greatest is already outdated. So i just accept it and make sure it covers my needs well for a few years.

My last build was my HTPC and i love it. It looks sweet hooked up to my 42 flat screen. I love sitting in the den and busting out the wireless keyboard. If you are into using your phone as a remote there are a number of apps to control your computer. VLC remote is cool. Pm if you want more details.

i7 3770 reviews came out and its basically 5% faster than a 2550k in games, but up to 15% faster for hipster editing software bullcrap. Not worth an upgrade for me, even though my motherboard would accept a chip. However I would strongly recommend it for you, as does Toms' Hardware. Do not ignore the 3570k, which is $100 less for about the same performance is most tasks except, again, hipster BS.

Quote:
Regardless of which side of the fence you find yourself, Core i7-2700K is subjectively "good enough" compared to Intel's Ivy Bridge-based Core i7-3770K. No question. If you're die-hard about data, the numbers also make it objectively clear that there is no reason to upgrade a high-end desktop Sandy Bridge CPU to a high-end Ivy Bridge CPU. What if you're still stuck on an old Core 2- or Phenom-based platform and need something new? In that case, of course a desktop Ivy Bridge-based chip makes more sense than buying what is now last-generation hardware.
I run a Crucial M4 128GB SSD for my OS and games. Its unreal fast. I use a couple of 1TB storage drives for music and movies etc. The most important transfer speed is between the OS, main programs used daily, and games. The larger files like music and full .avi seasons of Formula 1 can definitely just go on a storage drive.

www.overclock.net is like the NASIOC of computers. Oh wait, no it isnt. Because it locks every troll thread! In any event for about 4 years its been my go-to forum for all things computer.
