Very cheap and easy mod to do!! You pulled it off nicely, I just recently did this for my best friend and his new to him 03 wrx. I got me some dinner out of it aha. BTW you can do this to pretty much any headlight using the same process.

I re-heat mine to glue them back together. Once they come out of the oven, I use a good quality clear silicone and apply a nice bead to the lip while they lights are still warm. I then press them together. This assures a very nice seal. The last thing you want is a poor seal and moisture making it's way into the lenses.

I didn't see the need to add any extra sealant. After pulling the lens apart, I didn't lose any rubber, so I figured it would be fine when sealing it back up. All's been good so far... we'll see how it holds up over the winter.
If you do want to go the route of adding extra, the stuff is called butyl rubber and http://www.amazon.com/CRL-Sunroof-Butyl-Sealant-Tape/dp/B002CXGSKY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348579085&sr=8-1&keywords=butyl+rubber. |

Any kind of extra sealant is unneeded and causes more harm than good.
<-has done this job to 150+ pairs of headlamps. |

Yes, you have to put them in the oven to soften the sealant that bonds them together.
And no you can't bake tail lamps the same way. |

Just curious why you say this, because although I don't have 150+ of headlight experience i do this a lot and i have used clear silicone every time with no damage to the headlight? The times I have tried it without i seem to get moisture in the headlight?

It just makes a mess.
Also standard silicone releases caustic fumes during curing that has been known to etch reflectors and lenses, or even eat away lenses. Put the lamps together, bake again to soften the sealant thats there, push the lamps the rest of the way back together, done. |

I did contract work with a well known vendor years ago, including retrofits. I no longer do it
For a price, just figure out your costs and time, and figure out a price from there. Look and see what others are charging |

Most people, like myself, just prefer the black look over the chrome look. That doesn't mean the few cars you've pictured have ugly headlights. |

I bought some 2012 headlights and decided to retrofit some rx330afs projectors while I had everything apart. The stock light output cant even come close to the lighting the rx330 puts out.
Both cutoff shots are taken with the same settings. |
