F*&#king snow plow had it's way with my car last night. Traveling south on 2000 east under the I-80 eastbound over pass when two snow plows went over it at the perfect time. Couple hundred pounds of snow traveling at 60mph and me traveling at 35 sounded like I hit a moose. Bent hood, fenders, sheet metal around windshield, shattered and bent sunroof and windshield, broken grille, bumper, headlights and wipers. Hoping it's totaled but doubt it. UHP and SLC can't figure out who is filing a report cause the snow came from the freeway(UHP) but I was on a city street(SLC). SLC at least showed up only to tell me to call UHP who hung up on me twice and refused to come out the third time saying SLC needs to report it, good times. I'm fine except for a little glass in the face and eye I need to get checked out. Calling claims department Monday morning for UDOT and insurance adjuster should be by then as well.

Prepare to get raped by UDOT immunity. I hope you have good insurance because the state almost never pays out on these claims.

So crazy day today with all the phone calls and back and forth but the long and short of it is the state is actually going to take care of it. They got me a rental car today and the car got towed to mark miller body shop after a state appraiser came out and looked at it. Closer inspection to the a pillar looks like damage is just superficial, If all the other damage is superficial as well then its just a matter of replacing body panels so hopefully the car will look good as new when it's done. My eye did have a small puncture on the cornea from a piece of glass but it should heal okay, really weird how the windshield broke into small razor sharp shards, thought they were designed to brake in squares. Thanks for the comments guys.

Please do. Luckily only saving grace is none of the japanese body parts got messed up, so I don't have to reorder anything from japanparts. Yeah I was surprised the state covered it, we'll see once all the damage is totaled up if they still come through. I've got a secret weapon with somebody being in the law field if it comes to it and if I go the insurance route allstate will cover it and sue the state for it if they bail as well. Half the reason they are probably being cool is there has hardly been any snow this year so far so they are under budget I'm guessing but to their credit the appraiser and adjuster have been way cool so far. Mark miller should have it figured out by tomorrow, stopped by and talked to Kelly today, seems like he knows his shiz. It's already at least a grand over what the state appraiser said cause he quoted regular headlights and mine came with HIDS. Main thing I want to know is if there is any frame damage or safety compromising damage, the cowl below the windshield is def bent in 2 places so far.

Glad all is OK. Living in Alaska, I've always worried a little about such a thing. Our state plow drivers are absolute jerks the way they drive.

Make sure you seek compensation for "Diminished Value". You're gonna take a big hit on resale when it shows up on CarFax.

Thanks guys, I'm planning on trying to pursue the diminished value claim. The car has to be fixed in order to pursue it and don't want to start rocking the boat with the state until after they write the first big check. I'll probably ask the dealer to write a letter showing the difference between trade in values. Technically it won't show up on carfax since it's through the state and not my insurance but I don't want to be that guy so I'll probably trade it in when the time comes unless I sell it to somebody on here with all of the mods included and I'll make them aware of this thread. The bid includes putting it on their laser frame machine so I'll be able to document that the damage was all superficial. Most of the cost is new parts, headlights alone were 2K.
