Default Really nice (don't laugh if you don't know) Integra

i saw the sweetest integra on fairfax co parkway today. it was a dark grey '96(before the facelift, it had amber rear signals) hatchback 2 door GS-R... first thing i noticed was exhaust.

no fart can, just a nice, throaty, 2.75" tip and reasonable muffler.

i'm thinkin' "well thats good... he's taken extremely good care of the paint (looked waxed like brand new) and he didn't put any ugly altezzas on it.

next thing i noticed... the wheels are slammed and definate 18 inchers... very clean, but very big. you could tell the tires wouldn't rub or anything, but it would have been a struggle to get your fingers in there.
i also see there's some plain white sticker in the rear quarter window, maybe an inch or two tall and 6'' wide, of some performance shop. i don't recall which. i'm thinking, well, he's got a sticker, but his car is still really really clean looking.

legal tint, i give him the thumbs up, right before we hit some traffic. as i'm braking i notice the last visual thing about the car... stock front lights, bumper! he might have had clear corners, i don't remember, but no crazy body kit or anything. i'm thinking "wow, this guy has a really clean GS-R, nice"

well as i mentioned we hit traffic. we go from 2.5k-3k rpm and the low rumble of his exhaust, to a downshift into third- now the exhaust note must have drowned out any highpiched whine because at his downshift i hear a subtle but decernable atmospheric blowoff valve. my friend and my faces light up and we give him the thumbs up, as i hear a spooling down from the GS-R... this ain't no airhorn ricer thing under the hood, i heard a turbo, and since i hang out with you guys (and some louder DSM folk) you know i know what i'm listening to.

this is the first encounter with a turbo GS-R i've ever had... i didn't even think there were any around here, but it was like a sierra mist commercial to see one, and so clean!

mad props to that guy. i was going gaa gaa over his car from the second i heard the vacuum release valve(or whatever those VW people call it).

guys... as cool as boxer engines are, i'm far from married to the subaru family... my status has changed to 'open relationship'.

just wanted to relay you guys that there are acura drivers that are NON-Ricers. even around va.dc.md

There's another guy with a Type R integra from up that way. He spends his winters down in my area (he's a VT student). He posted his dyno readout on another forum - 315 whp on 93 octane at 15psi. Not too shabby, eh?

VSMs civic is the stealthiest i've ever seen. He probably surprised a few V8s.

I know, I was with you when we saw it, an we both commented on how sweet it looked. I was just messing with him. Its a shame he had to part it out!
