I wouldn't put an STI badge on a WRX. It's OK to buy STI parts that say STI and put on a WRX, but not a badge.

I have a JDM S204 trunk that I put on my WRX and it's not the right year trunk. I have a blobeye, so the correct year trunk would be the S203, but couldn't find one in good shape. The S204 was in better/good shape so went with that one. Anyway, the point is I left the S204 badge on the trunk; even though, I obviously don't have an S204 and no S series car until the upcoming S209 was ever even sold in the US. But, kept the S204 badge and I removed the STI badge from the trunk. I also didn't reapply the WRX badge, so it just says S204 on my car which is obviously totally fake.

I'm sure some people will disagree and some will agree with leaving the S204 badge on. I don't care - I think it's a cool trunk and being an original JDM it deserves to keep it's S204 badge.

It's really up to you what you want to do. I certainly wouldn't put an STI badge on a base WRX. If you are modified way past an STI, then you could probably do it. Again, I wouldn't do it, and my car was dynoed at 475 whp and over 500 wtq with an FP Blue on E85. But it's up to you. Nobody's going to hassle you either way. If you do it, it's like giving props to the legend of the STI I guess.

I bought a 2019 Series Gray in December and it has the carbon fiber trim above the license plate that has STi on it, I didn't put it on, it came from the dealership that way.

That's an OEM STi-branded part that you can option or buy from the dealer and, IMO, not as egregious and outright putting an actual STi badge on your trunk or grill.

I have the OEM STi lip kit and there are STi badges on the front lip and the side skirts, because that's just the way the parts come. There isn't an OEM lip that doesn't have an STi badge on it. But there is no way in hell I would buy a separate or individual STi badge and stick it on my trunk or grill.

Are you sure it says STI and not SPT?

when I bought mine and removed that wing the same day I also sold my STI badges to the kid who bought the wing

I mean, if you are going to put that wing on why not the badges too

I agree. Not that you can't make a WRX appear like a STI by doing the brakes, wheels, and all on the outside, it just isn't. I own both an STI and WRX and they are completely different cars. Only thing similar is the skin.

WRX owners should take pride in the WRX emblem. I love my WRX. Of course I love my STI as well, but in a different way.

it was SPT IIRC until last year then they rebranded to STI. Same part # tho. I was looking into getting one and didnt want to deal with haters. Ended up just getting a china one on ebay. Does not look as nice as other CF parts I have.

Not that anyone would care except purists/enthusiasts, but that shouldn't stop you from doing what you want, but it's not an STI. The same goes with BMWs and ///M cars; they're slapping the ///M on anything now, kind of "devaluing" what the ///M represents.

Can't vote due to post count.

My wifeís 3-series was in for a recall yesterday and the dealer gave us an X2 with the ďM packageĒ for a loaner. Itís got a 2-liter turbo but itís no M-series for sure. More like a Crosstrek with the STI package.

Itís your car, pose however you want to.

My wife's 07 X3 was quite the same. There was a badge on anything except the trunk lid or engine bay. It was a nice detail, but aside from the M Sport body kit, wheels, door sill, steering wheel, and floor mats, it was just another X3.

It's like borrowing your big brothers suit for a job interview. It might not fit perfect but close enough to pull it off.

IMO the only time a WRX should do this is if they've made the modifications so that they're basically an STi internally in all but the badge. I mean, if you're willing to invest that much into modifying your WRX where it's basically an STi at this point, then I don't see the difference.

Otherwise, no.

I've always been of the thought that people love to add stickers to their cars based on parts they have on the car. For example, install a Whiteline stabilizer bar and put a Whiteline sticker on your back window (or your fender if that's your thing).

Putting a badge on is a little different. If you were to install STI pink springs for example, I don't think that warrants a badge where the car appears to be claiming to be an STI. Like others have stated, if the car has some heavy dosage of STI engineering in the form of full drivetrain swaps, STI engine, proper STI conversions, etc. then I'd probably have no qualms about putting a badge on it.

In the end though, it's your car, and there's no rule that says you have to abide by what anyone else thinks your car should be like or look like, etc. Do your thing!

I did a full JDM STi swap into my 2003 Wrx Wagon. I've been debating if putting the STI stuff will just be silly looking. I kind of like it though.

My imposter has a jdm STi ver 7 drive train swap. So far I love everything about the swap, why not show off a bit. I need to get another badge and not stick it on crooked again.

I don’t see why anyone would put sti badges on a wrx..
I’d probably even take the wrx off
