Apparently the McLaren mechanics don't know how to tighten anything down.
First was a wheel and now the exaust.

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/m...haust-1009670/

McLaren’s second day of 2018 Formula 1 testing was limited to just 37 laps due to its Renault engine’s exhaust becoming detached.
Stoffel Vandoorne was one of the pacesetters once running started in anger after a quiet morning due to cold weather, and the MCL33 briefly led the way after a run on the hypersoft tyres.

But while that lap was good enough to maintain third place by the end of the day, Vandoorne did not return to the track due to work required after the exhaust came loose.

“Unfortunately we had a small issue with an exhaust clip, just after lunch, which obviously detached the exhaust and blew a lot of hot air on some of the wiring looms,” he said.

“One of those wiring looms was the brake wire as well, so the team took precautionary checks, which obviously meant things took a bit longer than expected.”

Vandoorne said McLaren chose to use the softest tyre, that is new to the Pirelli range this year, because it would be the easiest to warm up in the cold conditions, and he felt he got some good initial impressions about this year’s car.

“It’s very difficult to switch the tyres on and the softer compounds make that a bit easier,” he said.

“Every time you go out and in [completing short aero tests] the tyres are losing a lot of temperature and they are not really built for these conditions.

“We had a very cold and damp circuit, so that took a while to get the running started for everyone. We took the opportunity to do some [aero] rake works, and gather some data during this time.

“After that the track got in a reasonable condition, we managed to do a few proper runs and try to understand a bit more the car we have this year.

“The first impressions were very positive. It felt very comfortable, no surprises, and some good learning done.”

Asked about his first experience of the Renault engine, he added: “So far, very positive. Everything feels nice, the drivability feels very good, every change we make is working as expected, so yeah, so far there’s nothing much to tell.”

I saw that!! Imagine if it’s only like $10 a month?! I honestly am super excited about this and not have to deal with sketchy websites to watch F1. I am totally okay with paying to support F1.

I assume the dot color on the timing chart you posted is the tire they were last using...so Sirotkin was on inters in the wet and that's why he's 8 seconds off the pace. Otherwise...Williams were brilliant in their driver selection

Honda's engine seems more reliable compared to the same stage last year. I wonder if it was McLaren chassis packaging restrictions that caused the bulk of the issues.

Or Honda engine is turned way down... can never really tell from these tests since no one is showing anything.

I agree. It make some sense that they might start the test session with the engine turned down, just to get laps in and test the chassis. At some point it makes sense to turn up the engine output to see what you get for power and reliability so you know what to address in the last few weeks before the season starts.

Lol... hilarious

Hmmm...makes me question where the root of the problem actually was. Maybe it was Mclaren all along.

Just started watching Grand Prix Driver and don't get a good feeling from the way the team was operating. Felt like they were celebrating giving Ron Dennis the boot too much and trying too hard to prove that they had made a big change but are still the same old Mclaren. It was painfully obvious from the first scene with Honda that they were going to have escalating culture clash.

It was McLarens fault, they dictated Honda the size zero concept, which obviously didnīt worked.
