I think I pay approximately $1 more/quart for Amsoil OE 0w20 when I pick it up directly from my friendly neighborhood distributor. Just grabbed some yesterday evening, in fact. I'll be close to due after this weekend's road trip.

Also- my mpg guage on the readout went from 28.8 to 32+ in the 450 miles since the oil change. No changes in driving. And it doesn't "rev" to "135" it slowly accelerates from 110-130 given plenty of space. I've never once hit the rev limiter in this car. |

If you think about it the way that would be logically phrased is. "My car ran low on oil so obviously it Mobile 1 fault." maybe it burns quicker because its thinner but i dont know if would pin that on the brand with out any real evidence. Real evidence isnt seeing a car 2 times in a 6 month period and one of those times it having a seized engine because it ran low on oil. |

But just a page or two ago you stated something to the effect of "if my car burned oil I'd be letting the dealer change it so that its their liability". |

However they want you to come in every 5,000 miles for oil changes, and all service needs to be done by them. Their synthetic oil service includes other razzamataz, and costs about $80. Their occasional major service includes things like flushing the brake lines, and changing the coolant, and costs a fortune. That's what pays for their 'free' warranty that they generously offered me. If my car burned oil, I would take them up on the free warranty, and let them change the oil. That does not contradict what I wrote 8 months ago, because, from what I can tell, your dealer does not offer a similar arrangement (and they kicked you out, right?) I never planned on having my dealer service the car, despite their 'free warranty'. If my car had been burning oil, I would be driving it to them for service (because then the warranty would be worth the extra cost to have them service the car). I would also be pursuing an oil consumption test, etc, ad nauseum, to create a service record for when the inevitable fix occurs. But my car isn't burning oil, and still has my first change of Amsoil in it (I changed it at about 1,100 miles), and since I prefer not to change it in the winter, I will probably put in the Amsoil extended life oil in November, even though the current Amsoil OE only has about 5,000 miles on it. What is this "cold" light thing? Is that like a bad thermostat or something?

Tomorrow afternoon, if its not raining, I still need to pop the plastic underbelly off and check for coolant leaks. I may do the rear diff again, since I'll be under there already, and I still have trans/diff fluid leftover.

Speaking of market differences, I wonder how much a 6mt from an Aussie scrapyard would be....

What do you mean it doesn't start working until the blue light has gone out? Do you mean the blue temperature light?

I'm guessing it is to ensure all the engines mechanicals are up to full operating Temperaure. After initially being a little cautious about it we used to disable it each time we now find we let it work normally with the displays Infomation Timer indicating a saving on average about 20 minutes idling each full tank fill. From a Local Online Review: " Subaru has equipped all three Imprezas variants with auto start-stop, a feature we're more used to seeing in European cars. In fact, the new Impreza becomes the first car in the small car segment to feature the fuel-saving technology across the range. The system works by switching the engine off automatically when the Impreza has idled for more than half a second, an ideal outcome in heavy traffic situations. The instant the brake pedal is released the engine auto-restarts and away you go. " http://www.caradvice.com.au/160406/2...iew-road-test/ |
