Default My First Suby

Firstly let me introduce myself.

I am a Master Student in BioEngineering at McGill University. I graduated from a bachelors of Engineering recently and work within the Engineering Realm. I live up North in Quebec Canada, where winter is fierce and an AWD car is needed.

So Something happened today. I drove about 200 miles to pick up a car that I was suppose to pass on to my brother. Drove it back and fell in love with it.

My first Suby. Simply amazing to drive. Never buying another brand if I can help it!

The car has 150k (90k miles). It's pretty clean, has some signs of rust. The clutch is new and the oil pan is leaks a bit. Needs new brakes too.

Got it very cheap, I simply love it, no comparison to anything else I've driven.

Enjoy boys, it's getting a paint job next Monday and new Brakes all around with a new oil pan.

That's not me in the picture.
I'll have pictures up of next weeks paint job.

I also own a Supercharged Eclipse.

New SDS Member - Club3G Forum : Mitsubishi Eclipse 3G Forums

I just had a new engine put in it and now that I have Impreza I think I'm going to sell my eclipse (only summer driven) and keep the impreza.

NEW Pictures:

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plans

1)Paint job (already scheduled) + New Front Bumper

2)Brakes, not sure if I should do a Brembo Swap, I'd have to see if they'd fit the wheels I have.

3)Front window (already ordered)

4)Fix trunk lock

5)Fix Oil leak (I think it's the oil pan)

6)Rust Proof + Greased

Future plans

WRX swap (engine+transmission), read a few articles about it and it seems that it would run me around 8000k to get it done right.

The car looks good and clean! Take care of that new paint job up there I'm assuming winters can be brutal on paint!

^^Thanks guys,

Winter is brutal, very cold, lots of salt, but there are solutions, one of them being crazy rust proofing.

This was suppose to be a beater, until I drove it. I'm getting a new paint job, that should do the trick for 3-4 years. I'm going to need some input for the EJ20 swap. I've never owned a subby.

^^Thanks boys,

Radiator & Brakes

Just got this in the mail today, New Radiator and 4 new rotors with brake pads.

I'll be painting the calipers gold.

I've been reading a few swap threads. There is so much I need to learn, granted the engineering background and experience with the eclipse S/C.

I've watched Wathermoon's video and read up on the S/C kit. I'm not sure whether I should go ahead with a WRX swap or a the S/C kit. I think the WRX engine will be more reliable.

Opinions?

Are you able to get more information on the donor car? Just make sure if you're considering a motor to really do your homework on it so it won't fail you in the first year.

No,

I'm going to swap in an EJ20 when I sell the eclipse. I was in the USA for a couple of weeks to present my work.

I came back and went to check up on Alvin's work. Amazing, I'll have more pictures tomorrow with all the work he is doing.

All the tape is small bumps, he welded up the holes in the cabin and redid the floor of the interior. He also took the put tape on all the bumps, he needs to fix.

It's simply amazing his attention to detail.

Here is it for now.

EJ20,

The paint job is guaranteed for a couple of years. If I like the job and everything goes well, I'll have the engine and tranny in by next Summer.

That's how I was when I went to the subbie dealership to check out and test drive my wrx that they literally just got. It wasn't even on the lot yet. I showed up, loved the look and took it around their TD route. Used interstate on ramp and man... hook line sinker. I had to have it. Grats on your buy and welcome!
