You mean Premium. Base model WRX offers zero factory options. Unless you mean STI, in which case carry on. Base model STI is more like a premium/limited mix if you compare standard features on it to the standard features of the various WRX trim levels.

Yeah, should've specified it was a STi.

Have an appointment next week at the dealer to talk about putting in an order for a 2019 STi base w/ performance package. Wish me luck!

Seems like 8-10 weeks is what I should expect after reading through this thread a bit

Purchased a 2019 limited WRX back in September, and while I really like the car as well as where Subaru is going with the platform, I never really fell in love with it. I really like the creature comforts like keyless access and android auto, it's more than quick enough for street use and its handling capabilities are great, but from a driver involvement and connection standpoint, I found it slightly sterile compared to the "old" models. I'm at a decision point where I either start modding the WRX to improve drivability (stage 2 to gain some additional power and reduce the rev hang, etc), or trade up to an STi and get a better factory tune, better driver inputs, and the character I fell in love with years ago. The STi in stock form fixes all my qualms about the WRX, allows me to maintain a warranty, and importantly, puts a huge smile on my face in a way that the WRX simply didn't. Anyway, life is too short, and I fulfilled my childhood dream by ordering a 2019 STi limited in LBP (lip spoiler)! The wait begins...

Painful IMHO. My old 05 OBXT got 22mpg pretty much no matter how I drove and I had to fill up at least once a week. I've been driving a 19 outback 2.5i since October and I've been able to go sometimes 2 weeks between fill ups. Crazy difference. I can't wait to get back in a boosted vehicle!

I'm ready to trade my 2005 wrx for a 2019/2020 sti. Any thoughts?
I'm a little worried about what the new sti will look like. plus buying a new refresh model?

Saw the s209 at the Philly Auto Show. Would be a very cool collector's item for $50k-$60k!!!!

Wow, that's a steal. A local dealer started off with a base 2019 STI at $35,950.

How did you get them to 33.5? Would you be willing to PM me a redacted photo of that price on paper? Would love to present it to my LD.

Curious - did you drive a '19 STI yet, or you just ordered it on the belief you'd like it? Asking cause the sti really does feel special - you're in for a treat compared to the wrx.

The closest thing I've driven to one is an STi-swapped LGT wagon about 4 months into owning my WRX. All its inputs were so mechanical and the car had so much character- something I miss from even my old NA 05 legacy. That "mistake" told me everything I needed to know. My dealer did not have an STi at the time I ordered, so I'm taking a chance. Based on everything I've heard and know about the platform though, I know I've made the right choice and I cannot wait.

The reason I never drove one when I bought the WRX was because I talked myself out of it. I bought it using the logic that the platform was newer, got better gas mileage, and was all I "needed" for a daily that would be occasionally auto crossed. It felt much better (read: faster) than the legacy, but after living with it for 5 months, its shortcomings have shown and it doesn't deliver on the "old school" driving dynamics that I'm looking for.

COngrats! Just picked up a Limited CWP STI, so far I am loving it. Not as good of a deal as you did, $38k flat.

I believe it. I think that's close to invoice. So he basically ordered from a dealer who really wanted his business. And ordering for that price will end up netting the dealership more money than getting a STI Limited off the lot at that price. It won't count against their allotment and they won't be paying for the time it sits on the lot, so aside from SoA's cut, the rest goes to the dealership.

Now, if he'd said he got the same thing at $34k, I'd be saying "Prove it."

That's a great deal you got also. One dealership quoted me $37.5 for the base w/Recaro package.

I'm loving mine so far also. Definitely a different car from the WRX

Oh man, too bad you're in OR instead of CA or else I'd ask you where to go. I am almost ready to take that upgrade plunge but I am going to wait to see what 2020 will bring. Still iffy since I like my 13 hatch. The S209 is out of reach unless that sucker is going to be south of 50k, of which is unlikely since the Type RA is already beyond that price point. Yeah, I sound cheap, but my budget is 45k or below

Not that long of a trip from Cali to here, and I have a feeling you will be able to get a new STI Limited for about 38 to 39k. They hold their value really well here in the NW, I have a feeling if I drive it for 2 years I will not lose too much on it as long as you keep it clean. Good luck either way, I was tempted to wait, kept looking at many other cars, eventually came back to a Subaru, so far so good.

Another thing that many here don't seem to mention, build quality on these cars is quite good. I am meticulous, and I checked quite a few other cars, fit and finish on the STI seems to be great, panels fit well with even gaps, paint quality is decent. Interior, while not as modern as other cars, is well put together and functional. I guess grass is not always greener on the other side!

LOL - I actually thought about this, but in the end I am going to pay about the same or probably more for total costs. I am going to wait until I see what 2020 will bring, though, and I have the $500 coupon already lined up.

I was originally told 8-10 weeks, but then before I left that was updated to more of an 8 is possible, but 10-12 is way more likely. Then the plant closed down for a week or so. I'm anticipating it'll take them a bit longer to get back on track, especially with the WRX/STi. They are likely getting caught up on higher number cars like the Forester and Crosstrek first. It's a numbers game after all.

I'm at about 4 and a half weeks right now and am anticipating that my wait is almost half over. At this rate, if it takes an extra week or two, that's okay with me as it would mean no snow tires or undercoating right away. Plus, it'll be easier to detail and coat myself as I can turn the water back on in my garage once we are no longer in danger of freezing.
