I know the Subaru community can come together and figure this out, glad this is on the front.

why not have the LEOs check the database for Imprezas with the sunset plate then troll on a fishing expedition? It's what ours do with fatal hit and runs. Caught a mother and daughter hiding their BMW in a neighbor's garage, both are sitting in jail for manslaughter now.

Well, for starters, there are eleventy googolplex silver WRXes in the area, and Nevada is a large state, with the sunset plate as the default plate, he could be from Vegas for all we know, or Mound House, or Battle Mountain, or Eureka, or a million other little hidey-holes.
A Bimmer would be easier to single out here than a silver WRX. I have one. I didnt do it. |

Its too bad, the Reno forum, seccs.org has lost most of its core members, or at least many have moved elsewheres so there isn't a grass roots type population. I-club doesnt seem to have any notice posted as nasioc does.
That section of interstate is an unfortunate one, Ive seen and heard about so many incidents all along the spectrum and I hate when I have to go through there. Everything from flagrant disregard for others safety to flat out dangerous ignorance. That area was once rumored to be in the Guiness book for the highest ex-con population (N. Valleys of Reno). Im just hoping the guy screws up and does something dumb to get his ass caught. |

Violence begets violence bringing further darkness into a night already devoid of stars. I am not advocating violence against the goons of the system, but why are we weeping the extermination of a thug of the system that helps keep imprison people who have a disease?
70% of crime is because of drugs which is a chronic disease in that the addict was born miserable and the system knows this, banning drugs so they can charge a huge price on what has an inelastic demand. Yes, I think any death is a wrong thing but to make it like correctional officers are heroes... we are all tools in this messed up system. God rest this poor man's soul, he was only trying to do good by himself, maybe looking at a cushy state job. Who knows. But if this seems so horrific, why don't we focus on the root cause of violence: the war on drugs, and instead of slamming people in jail for a disease invest the monies in treatment for this illness whose cure is well known, recovery, methadone, suboxone, counseling, 12 step etc. So sick of the legal/prison industrial complex and branding the thugs of the system, LEO's and such, as heroes and organized crime as the bad guys. It's a dance where one needs the other to maximize the profits of those at the top really, and no one is aware of the toxic game they play thinking they have full right to do what they need to do. This extends from those going into LEO to be a "hero cop" to the kids growing up in the ghetto that cannot do it any other way. Serenity: don't worry about it, you can't do anything about it anyway. But if you are in the position, tell LEO's nothing................................... nothing. They and the system that pays them as their goons is not your friend. Condolences to the family of the deceased but here's to wishing to a world of decriminalized drugs and a stop to the legal/prison industrial complex. |

Havent heard a thing. Nothing reported in local news that Ive seen. Silver subaru in Reno-Tahoe is definitely a needle in a haystack situation. Hell, I drive one.

i've lived in the north valleys for the majority of my life(red rock/stead). while i can't agree with most of what left foot said about the crime etc. and i've never been in an accident out here (regardless), but he's not lying when he says finding a "silver wrx" is like finding a needle in a haystack. i've had my eyes peeled though and my pops who is a subaru/motorcycle enthusiast has also seen a silver hatch leaving a job site out here. will check for damage if i see it again.

We don't need to think of LEO's as heroes but there is nothing wrong with a kid idolizing an organization and aspiring to become an officer. We need LEO's in this country and we need good ones. Police Academies instill the ideology that they are there to serve the people and maintain good order and discipline. Sadly in cities, many officers become numb by all the **** heads that feed off of the "system" you talk about and have no accountability for their actions. "cushy state job"...I have no idea what you do for a living but a corrections officer is anything but a "cushy" job. "war on drugs"...Well I think you slightly misused the term there unless you are talking about the one Richard Nixon coined during the 70's specifically to help procure funds for rehab, prevention, and destruction of drugs in the US during the cocaine boom from our compadres south of the border. Millions upon millions of dollars go towards helping those with drug problems but here is the issue which you are so freakin blind to see. If a drug addict commits a crime...He is not and can not be pardoned because he was on drugs..or drunk etc etc. 100% of the time they need help which they cannot do themselves and 100% of the time if they committed a violent crime once, they will do it again unless they are incarcerated, and put through the "awful" system which you mention; which by the way offers every way possible to get clean and go through rehab. "the addict was born miserable and the system knows this, banning drugs so they can charge a huge price on what has an inelastic demand."... I can't even.. First, you are not born miserable..You may have had a ****ty life growing up but you are left with a choice at the end of the day. Some people have MUCH harder choices growing up, but again that cannot excuse their behavior or give a reason to legalize drugs! haha..How can you even think that they should legalize drugs like that... Oh and I am NOT talking about Marijuana...hahaha. Thanks for posting your satirical comment. Reading it this morning blew my mind. ..and to think..I logged on to NASIOC this morning to ask advice about heat reflective tape on my ceramic coated air intake... TL;DR - Drugs are bad, criminals are criminals, LEO's are good but some can be bad, your ideology around drugs and crime is laughable and offers no solution, and this death was a tragedy like any other! At least investigators have something to go on. I'm sure they are going through registered silver Imprezas attempting to find connections. Hopefully they can get answers.

Hopefully who ever the driver is turns themselves in and not make the whole subaru community look bad. Those high way patrol motorcycles are very quiet if you ask me. They should have a louder exhaust. Also, in my opinion, if this was caused by road rage then the officer wouldve pulled over if it got out of control. They have procedures on handling road ragers. Accidents are accidents. Hell, it couldve been a deaf old woman in a wrx.

And apparently, they think now whatever was going on was mutually agreed upon, like they were having a run.
