Unhappy Thinking about aftermarket clutches now that clutch is slipping...

Yep, 60K KM and my clutch slips in 4th gear near 4K RPM, so I don't think it will hold much longer and will definitely need a new clutch soon. The thing is - I'm thinking of turbo, don't ask me when, but it's something in my mind. Right now, the car is pretty much stock in terms of power, but with the turbo in the back of my head, I wonder what clutch should I get (and remember, I'm in Canada so I'm trying not to break my bank to get a clutch). Also, since the clutch work will be require pulling the tranny out, should I consider getting a lighter flywheel, tranny mount and possibly engine mount to go with the clutch install? I think it would make sense to have these done as well if I'm going to replace the clutch. Or should I say screw it, get OEM clutch replaced with OEM clutch and worry about it when I start modding (which will be extra labour since I'm pretty sure I will need to change the clutch again, possibly with flywheel and tranny mount).

Dont have time to explain the install right now, but the ACT will be a very good setup, even if you dont end up going turbo. The pedal pressure isnt too hearvy, but enough for very good feedback, and will handle 300+ ft/lbs of torque

Have a Nice Day?

yes, thank you very much for your useful response...

the only reason I post this - is not just asking which setup is good. At this point, I just don't know how long the clutch will last - all I know is that if I don't do full throttle acceleration in 4th gear around 4K RPM, it seems to be fine. I haven't got a chance to verify other gears - but I would logically conclude that if there is any problem, it's more likely to have it in 5th gear as well, unless the problem is worse than it seems (then it will be 3rd gear somewhere near peak torque). I have heard about ACT and ClutchMaster... the other thing I was looking for is lightened flywheel - good idea at all to do it now?

i've used them all and the CM stage 3 was the best i've found out there.
if you plan on doing a flywheel then do them at the same time.

I got the ACT stage 3 with Turbo Legacy pressure plate and upgraded throw out bearing. My left leg was hurting for a couple of days but I go used to it. No cold shudder either and most important no slipping and I have a turbo set up on my 2.5rs.

Unhappy

But wouldn't a CM3 be too stiff - I guess it might not be for a turbo car... and the thing is, I just don't think the clutch will hold much longer, so I need to source parts quick, and from the States nonetheless (exchange rate, taxes and duty, and ugly S&H).

If you are thinking about an ACT clutch, dont get it locally, they will rob you blind. I got mine from Cobb tuning. He had a good price. Cheaper then OEM with exchange!

Again, the ACT is awesome, I prefer it over the CM3, it feels crisper, and about equal pedal effort.

don't forget primitive has them too.
Get the ACT, I had an exedy but did not hold.
oh yeah, definitely a good idea to do the flywheel, motor and tranny mount, Exhaust(if not already changed), hardened muffler hangers, SS clutch line while your swapping clutches.

Don't forget to change out the pilot bearing as well. I've heard of a couple cheap people trying to reuse them but its not worth the hassle.
