Exclamation URGENT... need help with STi mount install

I have followed the instructions to a tee, and for some reason the engine won't raise above the crossmember! Whenever I jack the engine up, the rest of the car follows. All necessary bolts are removed. Any suggestions? TIA.

Have a Nice Day?

OK, I figured the first problem out. Now, the engine won't sit back down in the car properly. The silver metal pieces that the mounts attached to are slightly different in size. Is that what's causing this? I keep shifting the engine back and forth, and it won't fit between those "tabs" on the cross-member.

Hey, I am from Marietta, and if I was there I would help you out.....too bad I am at school. I followed the instructions here at the i-club and put the mounts on first, then set the engine down. The only thing I can think of it to keep wiggling the engine around, it should set in the mounts. Too bad I can't help more.....but keep rocking hte engine around if it does'nt like it...some time it is bound to fit.

Cool

First of all, thanks for all of the advice! I think I ran into an unusual situation. The silver metal plates that come with (and attach to) the STi engine mounts were a little off. What I mean is the outside holes on them (the ones that attach to the block itself) were offset when compared to the original pieces. Because of this, there was no physical way for the mounts to fit between those square "cups" on the cross-member. When I removed the mounts and used the original black metal plates, it set right in perfectly! Since it makes no difference which plates are used, I would suggest using the OEM ones. Other than that, it went OK. It was kind of an all day event but I love the way the car feels now.

If I remember correctly on mine we disconnected the air filter tube 'cause it was making it harder to lift the engine higher. Sorry can't help much.
