For that type of setup the stock plugs should work great. Could gap them down a little if you'd like. I believe the OEM spec is like 0.028-0.031" and you could go to the bottom of that range.

I did the DIY $10 Remote Oil Pressure Sender mod today. FYI - This is needed with the normal ProSport oil pressure sender, due to its large size (hits the alternator). The Defi and ProSport Premium sensors are much smaller and can be bolted right into the galley plug without any issues. I'm not sure about other brands/models. Also keep in mind that some brands are NPT and some are metric. ProSport is NPT, so it is easy to find hardware that fits.

Prior to that I was running two 90 deg fittings to allow the ProSport pressure sender to clear the alternator. This was OK, except it wasn't screwed in real tight due to the necessity to be able to "clock" it for proper alternator clearance. Eventually it developed a small leak and it didn't seem like it was going to get any better, so I went for the remote install mod.

Here's a shot of the "before" setup:

I bought the parts from Home Depot. Online they show a 12" hose for $5, but in the store they only had the 18" hose that costs $9.62. The 1/8" straight coupler was $2.65 so the total with tax came out to be just over $10. If you order parts online, or go to Harbor Freight, you could probably do this for close to $5. I would keep in mind where you want to mount the sender, I think 18" is actually just about perfect.

Here's a shot of the parts:

First step is to remove the grease gun adapter from the end. It appears to be held on with red Loctite, but I got it off with just normal wrenches and no heat.

Here's a photo with it off:

Then just screw all the parts together. This is a mock up. I ended up deciding to put the strain relief spring on the end that goes into the galley plug and into the block. I figured there was more chance for stress there since it was hard mounted. I don't think it really matters though.

Here's a shot of it going into the block:

I ran it behind the alternator and zip tied it to the alternator wire's loom.

So far so good. Seems to be a great solution and much cheaper than the kits they sell. And waaay better than the two 90 deg fittings that I was using before.

I did the same set up for the oil gauge, do you think it's less accurate than when you had it much closer? I've only had it set up this way and some days I feel the readings are fluctuating and some days they aren't. I know it's a prosport gauge and "you get what you pay for" but how's your experience with it?

No, it should not be any less accurate. It is just measuring pressure so flow is not really important. Some actually prefer this type of mounting because it dampens vibration and reduces the chance of sensor damage or the housing cracking. ProSport are usually fine. Until they just so working. Luckily mine havent gotten to that point yet.

  • Installed Lower Radio Storage Slot (Upper Still Empty)
  • Removed BPV Hose (Plugged) and Installed 1.25" Cap on Inlet Port
  • Removed Front and Rear Door Speakers (No Radio Installed)
  • DIY LIcense Plate Relocation (Screwed to Fog Light Cover)
  • Filled Up on E85 (Currently $2.34/Gallon)

Whoah. That adds up to over $10,000 per year more than what I pay!

If you drive 200,000 miles a year.

$355/gal is pretty high. I don't think I'd pay that.

I would pay that still better than 412 or higher for 93

It may not be better with the drop in mpg.

I don't always boost light to light so I don't see this big drop in mpg that everyone else talks about as far as the access port is concerned(not sure how accurate the numbers are) the difference for me between e85 and 93 just driving the way I do everyday is only about 2mpg I'll deal with it

E85 is a far better deal than race gas (which produces similar power). Comparing to an inferior fuel like normal 93 octane pump gas doesn't make sense.

I'd gladly pay $4, $5, $6+ per gallon for E85 because the performance is so much better. I wouldn't pay $355 per gallon though. That is insane.

E85 is great too depending on how you drive. Mine is a highway cruiser so I get good gas mileage (18-20) and range gas is $1.50 cheaper on average. Ben I'll be at C&C next weekend but staying on E coming from WI just because I'd rather run that than switch to my 91 map lol.

The gas mileage is with the 95whp/135ft-lb for my car lol

I drove my 2011 WRX from Minneapolis to Chicago and back last year. It was 30psi, 600WHP, E85 tune the whole time. I think mileage was around 18MPG.

Incredible build.

Just my thoughts, but you should throw the stock wheels back on and paint that front mount black. Would look even more stealth. Too bad you couldn't delete the front plate too and maybe shave that part off the bumper.
