Default New STi owners, what did you get in trade for your WRX

Just want to know what to expect if I can make this happen.

Paid MSRP for my STi and got $17,000 trade-in for my mint condition 02 Sedona Red Pearl WRX with 28,600 miles. Here in Colorado, we only pay sales tax on the difference so I would have needed to get $18,000 from a private party. The dealer sold my WRX the next day for $19,200. Sell your car if you can. You will usually come out ahead selling. I just ran out of time since my STi came in much earlier than the dealer told me it would be here.

I spoke to the person who "spld me" my 02 WRX. But I actually bought the car from the manager of the dealership, and I have been dealing directly with him on the Sti as well. The salesman said about 16k for my 02, blue with some "tasteful upgrades like prodrive exhaust, Compustar starter, cf side markers, Sti fog light covers, etc. I will talk to the manager and see if I cannot get 17k, which I feel is fair.

I was able to get 19k for my 02 with 30k miles I just stuck to my guns and almost walked out 3 times but i finally got what I wanted. Which I think is fair since they coundn't give me MSRP ( 2k markup on the STi = 2k markup for my trade ).

Has anyone traded a '03? Mine only has 8k miles on it.

My situation here in Nebraska is the same as in Colorado as far as only paying the difference in taxes (which are very high here in Omaha). When I traded my ITR for my WRX, I saved about $2k in taxes by trading...which after the deal was about what I wanted to sell my ITR for outright.

Please don't remind me...ugh.

I loved my ITR, but a few things swayed me to trade her in. One was the rampant theft problem. It's out of control. People steal them because nearly everything swaps to Civics, CRXs, other Integras, etc. The second reason is I wanted a good daily driver and the awd of the WRX rocks here in the winter.

Someone who has both the ITR and the WRX stated that when driving the WRX and the ITR back to back, the WRX feels very sluggish and porky. When driving the WRX by itself, it feels very powerful and great.
