Default V4 gf8 new Ej257 shortblock with v4 ej20g heads

My bottom end is on its way and was thinking of putting a new Ej257 short block and chamber match my v4 wrx ej20g heads to have ideal compression ratio and utilise the bottom end performance. ....

my only question is will my ecu read the crank triger sensor and other sensor needed on the short block ?...my ecu is modified with Esl daughter board chip set

Here is the short block part number 10103AC030

Or does anyone have another aproach to have a tuff bottom end block ? With still using my intake manifold and ecu ?

Was thinking of buying a jdm v6 ej207 engine and installing the harness BUT no way can I merge that mess of a harness

Any shortblock can be used as long as you figure out the pistons and heads for the right compression and head gaskets etc. The crank sensor attaches to the oil pump (so thats a separate part), and either phase 1 or phase 2 crank gear can be used. as long as your heads and intake manifold (and therefore electronics) are all good together, then you can do whatever you want for engine management (though obviously the options are limited for v3/4, basically standalone ViPEC or PowerFC, or ESL)
