Default 2.2L vs. 2.5L

Due to the fact that the WRX will probably be more than I want to spend (bad experiences in cars for the last year). Can anybody vouch (sp?) for the difference in power between the 2.2 and 2.5 liter engines?

Thanks

Jason

it's about 30 hp difference...

165 vs 138 IIRC

as an FYI.. all the non-turbo 2002's are 2.5L.

Pre02 OBS's and the L's had the 2.2L for the past few years (I think there may have been 1.8L's in the OBS back in the day as well)

I can tell you that my last two legacy wagons were 2.2L and my new TS wagon has a tremendous amount of more power. You can feel the difference!

yeah I'm looking at getting a 1.8L impreza for my gf.. I hope it's not too much of a dog... I think the 1.8L's are rated around 110hp.

My '93 2.2L had 140hp, my '99 2.2L had 142hp. The TS (2.5L) has 165hp. The 1.8L I do not know the HP.

I had a 2001 OBS with the 2.2 engine for a loaner and drove it for about 5 days. I also took a test drive of a 2001 2.5RS. I'm not sure of the weight difference, but the RS had a ton more grunt and was more "peppy" to drive. Gearing could also have something to do with my driving impression.
The 2.2 wasn't too bad, but if you can get a 2.5...

just my tax effected nickel.

hey! the 1.8L is not THAT much of a dog!

it pulls pretty good, there's just no top end...

110hp is correct... 50hp with rally tires!

it really is a good little car...

i figured the OBS's were all 2.2L's.. I'm looking at this cute lil red L wagon right now w/ the 1.8L... it's got bling blings on it though which would need to go. If I can get it for under 5k I may get it.
