Im not trying to be a peace keeper by any means I like to get people fired up once and awhile as well. It was just something that I constantly see when im on here and had to get it off my chest.

Well crap. MATH. HOW DOES IT WORK?!
So much for that engineering degree. His words are true though. If you ask questions that can easily be answered by using search or just looking around, then you do catch a lot of crap for it. Live and learn, though. |

Sometimes i want to make a thread about a certain topic im curious about, but havent made one yet because i know i will hear "doo yuh no howwe 2 uze de sersh buttun?" oh good, thanks for that one, the search tool is a nightmare.
i just google everything. I mean if that was the case, whats the point of having a forum. they should just call it a library and close all threads. everything has been talked about, but people want to know about their specific case and be reassured by someone they can respond to, not a thread from 2005. rant over |

Didn't read this thread but I have been on forums since 2001. To search within a forum, simply go to google.... Search (example given), "which intake should I buy? Site:nasioc.com" (or insert whichever site you want to isolate the search to) . You can also click advanced search option in google (will do the same thing ), but simply adding site:website.com after the search keywords it will only pull from the website you choose.
I literally never have to post unless I feel I have useful info to contribute , 99 percent of the info you need is somewhere out there. Just have to know where to look |

example: Googled- 2000 maxima p1320 Found a nissan forum- check the ign coils, only use Nissan genuine parts, the cheap autozone ones don't work.... Repeated several times. Car was diagnosed within 5 minutes with one allen wrench, a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. No posts, no threads, just searched and done. |

I admittedly haven't read every post yet, but I've read enough to make me want to respond.
This forum is a place where you have to earn your stripes. You get a nod for owning a Subaru but you don't get respect until you've proven you earned it. Anyone who asks "What's the best oil to use," or "Which exhaust gives me the most power" are not on their way to earning the respect of the community. Especially since there are threads and stickies galore that answer these questions in detail. The caveat is this...it's okay to ask these questions, but don't get butt-sore when your question turns into typical NASIOC banter. Said banter is what makes this site both fun and educational. It took me a while to get it, but once you do, you can appreciate it for the one-upper fun it is. So enjoy and try using the search function before owning the newest thread to be locked. |
