Default PLEASE HELP clutch and flywheel combo not working

i have a fidanza aluminum flywheel HERE its in good shape but needed to replace the clutch. i had the fidanza 3.2 HERE before but wanted to go a less aggressive this time so i order a stage one ACT clutch kit HERE . the guy thats installing it says he has done subaru clutches before. so i get a call from the guy today and he tells me this combo will not work that the pressure plate is scraping the bell housing. could this be?? or has it just been installed wrong??

Car is a 03 WRX

You did read the Clutch & Flywheel FAQ where it says to buy all of your clutch/flywheel crap from ONE MANUFACTURER right? Research is what separates the men from the boys...research starts with the sticky threads, use them next time.

I would compare the other flywheel to the one that is in your car now. maybe you will find a difference.

or maybe you will find that the dude installing doesn't know what he's doing. Sometimes a fresh pair of eyes will get it done....

ok i just wet over the FAQ thread http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=775679

Can I use XXX's pressure plate on YYY's clutch? No. All manufacturers plainly state to use the same brand components, so if you go with YYY, use all YYY components.
i can see where using the same clutch and pressure plate is important as quoted above. but it dose not clearly state to use the same flywheel. and if this was the case wouldn't you need to swap the flywheel everytime you put on a after market clutch?? this can not be the case as this clutch kit works on a stock flywheel.

as i stated before i got the whole clutch kit from ACT

Like I said, load the car on a flat bed, secure everything and take it to a shop that is used to working on Subies specifically.

You have one of the mythical strange thickness Fidanza flywheels. Went through the exact same thing with a customer a few months back. Fidanza has two different thicknesses listed as they swear there are two different flywheels for 02-05 wrx's. The thickness of the one you have is about .25" thicker than normal and with some pressure plates causes a problem.

Hey OP (or anyone else can chime in). I've got a 2002 WRX. I'm about to buy a steel Fidanza flywheel p/n 210001 because it says for 6/01-07, but there is also p/n 210221 for up to 6/01. Is the 6/01-07 the production date of the tranny or the car itself? I want to be sure I don't run into this thickness problem.

Also should mating this with Exedy KSB01 be ok?

i ended up putting a stock flywheel back on and it is working fine. i would not try to mate this flywheel with any other clutch that its not made for. i will try and find a part number for my old one and post it up

The KSB01 is a factory replacement clutch so I would think the Fidanza should work no problem. I'd appreciate the p/n you had used. Thanks.
